In response to Newtster's comment:
Gee, what's the difference between a school and a police station?
The early Friday morning shooting apparently occurred inside the police station, possibly near a stairwell in the rear of the building. Police said a suspect was under arrest in connection with a domestic violence-related incident when a struggle with officers ensued at around 5:30 a.m. The suspect "obtained a firearm" during the struggle, police sources said. Officers then returned fire, killing the unidentified suspect.
No kidding? You mean that all those cops were not unarmed and thus subject to being targets when the suspect decided he wanted to grab someone's gun and start shooting?
Funny how that works; one officer shot but in stable condition, and two more with superficial injuries. The shooter, for his part, is dead.
Now think about how many cops would have been shot and killed had they not been armed.
No, being a good guy with a gun is no guarantee when a bad guy with a gun shows up and starts shooting. However, when a bad guy shows up and starts shooting if the good guys have guns it certainly beats the alternative, which is being a good guy but unarmed, and thus being rendered a victim with no means of defending yourself -- or anyone else.
Now that is some crazy a$$ed pretzel logic.
