Michael Sam and Oprah hid their planned reality show from the NFL

Fifteen yard penalty for "Oprah-izing" ....'kneecapping a team which took a chance on a football player and instead got a circus'

Can only imagine the reaction if Tim Tebo filmed a Christian reality series with the Patriots....

    Breitbart:

Michael Sam did not inform the Rams before the Draft that he had agreed to a planned documentary about his NFL experiences, and one Rams player believes the OWN documentary on Oprah Winfrey's network could be a distraction.
On Thursday, Cameron Weiss, Sam's agent, told NFL Live that the Rams didn't learn about the reality show until after drafting Sam. They learned of the show shortly before OWN's public announcement. The Rams reportedly will not have access to the set of the reality series beyond that enjoyed by traditional media outlets.

"It's an interesting case that he gets to work with Oprah and have his own show, but I think it does raise eyebrows and it may be somewhat of a distraction," a Rams player told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Thursday. "But this is our first time dealing with something like this, so we'll have to wait and see how it plays out and how people react."

Breitbart Sports contributor C. Edmund Wright wrote that the OWN documentary may mean the end of Sam in the NFL and Paul Finebaum declared on Tuesday that Sam's gay kiss made him uncomfortable, especially because it felt like something that was "orchestrated" as "part of some agenda." [The agenda being ratings for Oprah's reality show....]

Sam has insisted in interviews that he is just in St. Louis to play football, but the reality series may suggest otherwise.

How do you 'teach' a biological trait?

Are you using textbooks or are you more "hands on"?

That was even faster than probably even Sam realized how fast he could turn you gay.

    And the big deal is?

I see an upside and a downside.  The upside is any BS by players or coaches is documented.  The downside is that it creates a whole level of stress for Sam.

Your children should be so lucky to be in a loving, supportive relationship like Sam has.

Besides, don't knock it until you try it.  More and more teenagers certainly are.

I'd prefer my son to be gay than a linebacker in professional football.  Between the torn muscles and tendons, broken bones, steroids, and repeated head trauma, their long term health outlook is not good.

And Sam has the "gay card" going for him....so he is above reproach, in brazenly hiding from teams considering drafting him that he is a reality TV star, not a football player...

And the Tebo parallel is exactly on point...Tebo the celebrity was a distraction, but Tebo himself did all he could to be a good teammate and not attract attention to himself.

Any complaints by Rams teammates to the upcoming reality TV circus will be immediately classified as anti-gay bigotry....and if Sam gets cut from the Rams, as is the fate of most 7th round pick, Oprah will follow the courtroom drama when Sam sues for $1 billion for discrimination...

And to think we believed Mr. Sam when he said he was a good teammate and didnt want to attract attention to himself....this is a politicized scam, to rip off the NFL.

The guy has only been drafted, not signed. If the Rams think it will be a distraction then they could easily make his NFL contract contingent on not having a reality show.

Tebow was just a pisspoor player that the wingnuts glommed onto for his religion .... and when he failed miserably on the field and was cut they declared another 'war on christians'.

To be fair, Sam was the defensive player of the year in the best league in college football, led that league in sacks,
and was a finalist for many of the national awards.  The guy can play.  He didn't get drafted because he's gay.

so, let's help the op out.  1%-2% are gay. 1%-2% of the 310 million people in america are gay. approximately 3.1-6.2 million people.  that's it. it's a fact. check any of the data and show us where there is any factual information, anywhere, proving differently. none exists. none.  do the math (1%-2% of christians)

should that 3.1-6.2 million people be discriminated against? absolutely not!

should that 3.1-6.2 million people define how 306.9 million people live?

let's get a grip people. who cares who kisses who. nobody.

    move on.

OWN’s Michael Sam Documentary Series Put on Hold

    By Lara Salahi
    Boston.com Correspondent
    MAY 16, 2014

When Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams on May 10, 2014, he became the first openly gay player ever drafted by an NFL team. It is a milestone has made longtime gay fans all the more enthusiastic, and already is drawing newcomers into the fold. (AP Photo/Jeff Roberson, File)

A documentary series on the life of Michael Sam, the first openly gay football player to be drafted to the NFL, has been postponed, NFL.com reports.

‘The Untitled Michael Sam Project’ was produced by The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). But the network’s president said in a written statement Friday the network is holding off on airing the series to “allow Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team.”

Sam was selected by the St. Louis Rams the seventh round of last week’s draft. According to NFL.com, his agent says his primary focus is to play football.

“After today’s meeting with the Rams, we collectively feel it is best to postpone the project,” Sam’s agent, Cameron Weiss, said in a statement. “Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message.”

NFL.com reports that the league did not know about plans for the show before the draft and did not agree to the filming.

According to ESPN reporter Ed Werder, Sam did not disclose OWN’s documentary plans to teams ahead of the draft because he feared that he “might not be picked.”

That is not the point. And, I am not a "denier".  The point is, there is no conclusive data proving homosexuality to be biological or psychological. I find it very hard to believe that anyone would choose to decide they like boys or girls.  My feeling is it is definitely "born that way" as the song goes.

My feelings and experience do not prove it however.  Until there are conclusive findings (and I don't know if there will ever be), all we have is our opinions and many of the various studies done by supposed experts, again, not proving either.

What about bi-sexual people? Do they choose?

Why would you ask for a scientific explanation when you'll just deny it anyway?

And no, they haven't 'definitively' proved it but they haven't 'definitively' proven how gravity or magnetism works. One thing is certain, all the studies are coalesceing around biological factors.

In recent decades, biologically based theories have been favored by experts. The high concordance of homosexuality among monozygotic twins and the clustering of homosexuality in family pedigrees support biological models....

Biological theories for explaining the causes of sexual orientation are more popular, and biological factors may involve a complex interplay of genetic factors and the early uterine environment. These factors, which may be related to the development of a heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or asexual orientation, include genes, prenatal hormones, and brain structure.

And here's the difference between our arguments. I rely on the best available science to explain the empirical evidence. If the science proves irrefutably wrong than I adjust my knowledge.

You just act like an insolent brat and stomp your feet saying "I don't believe it" no matter the science. Your problem is that you're twisted by nothing but your opinion.

Have you started to 'teach' your kids to be gay already?
How do you 'teach' a biological trait?

Are you using textbooks or are you more "hands on"?
How do they like it so far?

That was even faster than probably even Sam realized how fast he could turn you gay.

You have proof that it's a "biological trait"?  Funny, you would be the only one on earth to have such proof.

So tell me ... when did your parents teach you how to be straight?

Did they use a textbook or was it 'hands on'?

'Home schooling' takes on a whole new meaning with you deniers.

Heh, heh, heh ... now that's funny, a wingnut from the science-denier set wants scientific proof.

    Oh the irony.

I hate to burst your little ideological bubble but, I am a Democrat.

As I expected, you have nothing.  Nothing but insults, inconclusive "theories", and, from what I see of all of your posts, a real ability to spin like no other here.

                            Nice swing and miss.

And your 'proof' is that you just don't believe stuff ... no refutiation, no competing studies ... just "I don't believe it."

You're a wingnut whether you vote Dem or Gop because you just stomp you're feet and refuse to acknowledge the science.

So spanky, what do you base your opinion on ... just the fact that you don't believe the science to date?

Any empirical evidence? Any scientific studies?

Of course not because wingnuts like you think those voices in your head carry more gravitas than the many scientific theories and corresponding studies.

Are you out of your mind?  Really? Does reality escape you? YOU are the one saying homosexuality is biological, no exceptions.  I say show proof. You post an irrelevant "theory", and you have the guts to accuse me of not believing?

Again, I will say to you and hope you will stop your insane spin, pay attention, and show ANY conclusive proof of biological over psychological.  You can't. It does not exist.

And again, I will remind you that I think it IS the way you are born.

Are you dumb or is this a joke?
