MSNBC's Karen Finney Warns 'Crazy Crackers On The Right' About 'Hateful Language' On Immigration

Yes, Finney used a derogatory, [arguably] racist term for white people in a segment in which Republicans were chided for allegedly dehumanizing Hispanics with terms like "illegal immigrant" and "anchor babies."

That’s exactly what happened on  NOW with Alex Wagner, with MSNBC contributor and former Democratic National Committee communications director Karen Finney charging that the “crazy crackers on the right” would doom the GOP in this immigration debate.

'Crackers' is probably not the right term.  'Racist and Xenophobic rednecks' is better.  There is a reason that Fox doesn't allow comments on their news stories anymore, and it aint bandwidth or technology related.

And no, not all southerners fall into this category.....there are some pockets of enlightenment in the south.

For a guy that was screaming "racist" all day yesterday, you should be screaming and condemming this disgusting woman and this bigotry......shouldn`t you?

Worried much about racism against white males? Really?

As a white man, I would start laughing if someone called me a "cracker."

The term rather lacks that "I'll accuse you of looking at a white girl the wrong way and hang you from a tree because it'd be fun and who cares, your an n_________" historical background.....

    You are correctamundo.

Minorities hold absolutely no racial bias against whites.

Maybe it's like gays... in that it's something in their genetic makeup.

Sure, go back 100 years to scrape up an excuse like that.

Would you like to see the reparations menu sir ?

Black people never should have come this country, if they were just going to call white folks names.

In response to NO MO O's comment:

Adjective Not generous; stingy: "the company was particularly niggardly with salaries"; "serving out the rations with a niggardly hand".   Adverb In a stingy or meager manner.   Synonyms adjective.   stingy - miserly - mean - parsimonious -   - skimpy adverb.   meanly - scantily

Hitting the dictionary again.  Let me try it out:  "Nomo showed his compassion for the black and brown races in a very niggardly fashion".

Re: MSNBC's Karen Finney Warns 'Crazy Crackers On The Right' About 'Hateful Language' On Immigration

Is "cracker" a racist term?  It is a term used for low class whites.  It may be associated with the cracking of a whip (like an overseer would with slaves).  It was most likely popularized by other whites (slaves adopted the language of their masters not the other way around).  It is often used in a pejorative sense (although some use it as a self-discription), but is it really racist?  Seems not to be.

And I speak this as a (proud) "Swamp Yankee":  the lower class (white) people of New England who did not get the high ground dominated by the Brahmin (white) upper crust.  None of that is really racist either.
