Can you just imagine what the headlines would be if, tomorrow, a group of poor single mothers who just lost their WIC benefits stormed the local supermarket looking to feed their kids?

It's amazing the things we are talking about. So..congress voted to shut the government down..and somehow the consequences of that are Obama's fault? That is some strange and distorted logic.

Serves them right for having children out of wedlock and throwing the burden onto the rest of us.

Are you really going to compare the sacrifice of the WW2 vets to a bunch of irresponsible, whiny, single mothers?

Because, unlike you, we are not communitarians and beleive in individual rights and responsibilities.

Why is it always personal?  Why don't you hunt down the closest WW2 vet and tell him that he really didn't put his life at risk or possibly suffer the brutality of watching his friends dies around him.  He could have really suffered a worse fate, having to listen to a loser like you with no sense of honor.

Because sometimes one just can't help but call a spade a spade. Or in this case, call a skeeter a flaming dumbass.

    Heh jed,

I am back...again. (Check your messages when you can.)

Just when I was ready to jump on skeeter, I raed what you and company wrote.

First, you guys are way more creative.

Second, think I would feel like a "mean girl" if I piled on.

Anyway, I think skeeter got the point.

WIC babies have TWO parents...both single mothers and single fathers qualify. How they get to be single parents happens all sorts of ways. Guess should rename program WMIC.

    (Women Men Infants and Children)

It is very specific on what is allowed to be purchased...and it is not a lot.

I am sure he cares just as much about the infants and children as he does about fetuses.

As for the single parents he can speak to that.

    hoisted on your own Pitard!

babies? So, when they are born, then they get welfare.  Before that, they have as many rights as a plate of spaghetti.

don't blame me for the unintended consequences of 70 years of Democrat entitlements.  That's your problem.

besides, I though liberals thought the humane thing was to off the babies on the way out, you know, partial birth abortion.  Why saddle the poor little things with a life of misery?

sadly, that is the progressive view.

so, have we wandered far enough from Obama's flippant disdain for WW2 veterans?

    Why thank you.

So..Congress shut down the Government...not the President. The President doesn't have that power.  What your saying is that you think the President should have made an exception in this case..but does the President have the power to do that? Doesn't that create a slippery slope.

Sorry..with all due respect to the WW2 veterans who were on a sightseeing trip..I would rather that Congress didn't put all veterans health and livelihood in jeopardy shutting down the government.

Leave it to the wingnuts to be more concerned about whether or not someone can view a monument or a national park..than whether kids ( and adults) lose access to cancer treatment trials.

Finally..leave it to the wingnuts to blame Obama for Congress' every transgression. It's almost like they expect our country to be run like a dictatorship..

It's Obama that made the WW2 vets an issue, and it backfired on him, big time.  he did so just out of spite:

"On Monday, the first day of the government shutdown, a number of WWII veterans showed up at a memorial to their service to find that access had been blocked. The memorial is in a public space and is open 24/7, with almost no oversight from Park Police personnel. (Who, by the way, are exempt from the government shutdown.) The White House was, according to reports, informed of the veterans' visit and chose to block access."

Ted Cruz's joking comparison of his 21 hour faux-filibuster to the "Bataan death march" probably didn'seem quite so funny when he found himself apolgizing for it to a room full of pissed off Filipino WWII veterans.

There is a crack emerging in the no negotiation stance.

US Park service twitter feed now says that they'll allow the WWII vets in next week.  This is a reversal of telling the tour agent yesterday that they arrest the vets if they cross the barriers like earlier this week.  This enraged talk radio yesterday and created a battle cry to have a march in Washington.  The Obama Administration has opted to not have a Tianeman Sq. photo op.

Since the WWII incident the other day US Park Service has increased its full time gaurd presence to 7, normally there is only one.  By the way which is two more then they gave Amb Stephens in Benghazi.

Only the ignorant ones laugh.  With the rest we have a good and hearty debate.  Yes I'm right of center but clearly by anyone's honest review I'm in the middle third.  I could be a blue dog Dem or a RINO.  I'm disgusted with highly partisan views that don't acknowledge any responsiblity on their part because they can only focus on what they don't like.

800,000 Americans are out of work because of the antics of the wingnuts and what are they worried about?

Whether the shutdown that they engineered is really as bad as the Dems say it is.

800,000 people without a pay check and the wingnuts are worried about "optics".

Yes politics is all about perception and optics.  Obama continues to blame the GOP and Boehner blames the President and Dems.

So who is going to stand up and lead.  The logical solution is our leader, but that hasn't worked so far, due to his own partisan views.
