So now he is coddling terrorists?  The same guy conservatives have been ranting about using drones to rain down hot death on terrorists, instead of capturing them, for several years now?

Out of curiosity, what was the outcome of the last few terrorists to be tried in the regular court system?

At least Rep. King didn't decide to make political hay out of it like his senate gop colleagues.  He gave credit where due.

    A win is a win.

The decision not to try 9/11-related suspects in New York City is an affront to New Yorkers.

But it must really burn some partisan gopers to know how much more effective (and ruthless) this admin has been in fighting the war on Al Qaeda.

This is a war, as liberals NOW tell us, in defense of drone strikes.
If it is a war, then this enemy combatant needs to be a prisoner of war at Gitmo.
If they were able to interrogate this terrorist, valuable information could be obtained which could save lives and destroy Al Qaeda.
Instead they treat him like a common criminal, he gets lawyered up and doesnt say a word. His trial will be delayed longer than Whitey Bulger's,  no doubt.
Why didnt they just kill him with a drone strike?

I agree...a win is a win. I'm a bottom line kind of guy..as long as we catch them and either kill or jail them it be cool with me.

I always thought that was the goal...to bring justice to unjust actions.  Some people seem to disagree and prefer justice be served behind steel doors in a foreign country....instead of  a federal courtroom where Americans can see the results.

But only a blind person could see the significant efforts undertaken by this admin as somehow "coddling" the perps.

The concept of due process appears lost on you.

Who says they didn't interrogate?  Judging by the results, the Obama Admin has been getting the job done way better than torture did...and they get to keep part of their souls in the process.

They ARE criminals and as such deserve no special treatment or shelter from the public eye.

The federal court/prison systems are more than capable of meting out justice in most of these cases.

'behind steel doors of a foreign country' ?

    Really?

"Abu Ghaith had previously been arrested in Ankara, Turkey’s capitol, in February, but he could not be extradited to the United States without an international warrant for his arrest, UPI reported."

So the country of Turkey had this terrorist suspect in custody...do you think they interrogated him? Did they use coercive methods? Did, they "torture" him?

Should the Obama Administration release him because he wasnt given his Miranda rights in Turkey?

Such is the absurdity of the Obama Administration approach of treating terrorists as domestic criminals...

"The concept of due process"... Except domestic criminals get a trial, while most terrorist suspects get the 'due process' of a drone missile from the Noble Peace Prize winner...

Again, why didnt Obama kill him with a drone strike?

'to bring justice to unjust actions'

    Typical liberal pap.

'behind steel doors of a foreign country' ? So you assert America tortured suspects overseas?

'Obama justice' is the President deciding which suspects live or die, with no judicial review..

Again, why didnt Obama kill him with a drone strike?

    Typical neo-con dissembling.

America DID torture suspects overseas.  In Cuba, for one.  The majority of New Yorkers wanted the suspects tried in their city.

"Obama justice" is apparently working a truckload better than "Cheney justice" EVER did.

That you're not honest enough to admit it is your problem, not theirs.

Such smugness and partisanship is nausueating.

Three mass murderers were waterboarded twice, which led to the capture of Bin Laden. Still alive and doing well.

Obama kills hundreds of innocents with random drone strikes from the sky ...even deliberately killing a 16 year old...and this is "getting the job done" ...

Maybe it's something you ate.  Try Prilosec.

The definitive report on torture at Gitmo show well over 150 incidents of waterboarding as well as several as-yet-unexplained deaths of detainees under U.S. care.

So, what's your point...?!  Why can't you admit what everyone else already knows?

For the first time in a very long time, a majority of americans trust the dems more on foreign affairs.  Just in assuming that, what events could have possibly contributed to gopers losing their historically strongest set of issues...?

    Hmmm...what could it have been......

You are claiming you are right because of a transient poll....the American people are always right, is that it?

When Americans have polled all along by wide margins that enhanced interrogation is acceptable;  does that decide it for you, also?

Surprising a snotty elitist like you would ever have a kind word to say about the unwashed masses out there...but now that liberalism is in vogue,  the people are geniuses.

Torture works great - it just takes seven years and a new administration to really see results.

No, I am saying you can deny the numbers, but not the trend, which has undoubtably pushed down the the gopers' influence in these matters.  This effect must have a corollating cause.  And the cause can be traced to any number of blunders by the former brass.

That the peoples' opinions now may have changed doesn't mean they agreed with it at the time, which they didn't.  Either way, they still trust the gop LESS to effectively prosecute the war.

Besides, it shouldn't be lost on you that the Obama Admin's tacit approval implied in their non-prosecution of torturers (which I have criticized often) may also have unwittingly legitimized such behavior in the minds of americans (if not the rest of the world).

The smart ones know he is not on their side. After all he is going to Palestine too. Why would any President have anything to do with those genocidal maniacs living in the 10th century? You think the right wing Republicans are bad with their nonsense over abortion and gay marraige?? They are mere amatuers compared to the goons you support in Palestine.

    Then, they're not very smart.

That's it...let your hatred of all things arab flow...get it out there so it can render your argument pointless.

Yes...another example of how hardline christian fundamentalists are really no different or better than jewish or islamic ones.
