Obama is out of control. Where are the Republicans?

Obama is at it again, usurping the role of power of Congress:

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-20/obama-aides-say-more-to-gain-coverage-under-aca-than-canceled.html

Americans whose health plans are being canceled because their coverage doesn’t meet Obamacare rules will be exempt from the mandate that they carry insurance, under a change announced by the Obama administration.

    ------------------------

Where the bleep are the Republicans? Why are they not attacking this imperial President for acting outside his powers as prescribed by the Constitution?

They ALL took oaths to defend the Constitution.

    DO SOMETHING YOU CLOWNS!

andie, if the law says one thing and he changes it to something else without it being authorized by Congress then his action is unconstitutional. If the law specifies that the executive branch has the leeway to make those changes then it's not.

andie, the question isn't whether the action being taken is a good one or not, that's a separate debate. The question is whether or not the President of the unitede States has the authority, under the Constitution, to change a law without authorization from Congress.

IMO, the republicans are staying away from anything to do with Obamcare. I feel their philosophy is, no republican voted for this law and they are not going to hitch their wagon to this colossal mess with the 2014 elections looming.

I think that they're afraid of crossing President Obama due to his perceived personal popularity and the charges of RACISM!!!111!!! that usually follow any criticism of the President's policies.

Getting annoying. Why bother to come here if you can't have legitimate debate?

Apparently Obama is not the only person exhibiting tyrannical behavior.

The executive branch has a lot of leeway when it comes to enforcement of laws.  He can't tell insurance carriers every plan now has to cover dental - that would be changing the law.  He can say we're not going to apply this penalty to people who meet this criteria.

It's directly constitutional - the President has the power to grant reprieves or pardons for offenses against the United States.

And it's disingenuous to complain about enforcement of a law that you don't think should have been enacted in the first place.

Take it up with Congress.  They passed it into law, and the Court said "OK".

If I'm understanding you correctly, the smart voter would vote for the party that was not in power when insurance policies could be canceled at any time, when health care costs skyrocketed and deficits spiraled out of control?

I don't want to alarm you, but you are about to become a Democrat.

Oh it is disengenuous to complain about a President that has taken over for Congress and makes his own law?

Wait until a Republican does the same thing with a law  you don't like. Are you going sit there and shut up? I doubt it.

Take it up with Congress? Maybe you should go to a reading class with your pal WDYWN. That is what this is all about, not Obamacare. Can you read the title? You don't drive with those eyes do you?

    Emote much?

Re: Obama is out of control. Where are the Republicans?

I don't understand the notion that Obama is acting outside his authority.   He has the power to pardon drug smugglers and terrorists, but not to excuse somebody from a fine?

Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution - he (the President) shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States

Not having insurance is an Offence against the United States.  Waiving the fine is a reprieve.  What's the problem here?
