The jobs council already did what they were supposed to do.  Its up to congress to decide if their recommendations have merit and, if so, to incorporate them into legislation.  Many of the recommendations Obama could take action on via Executive Order were implemented.

Its funny that right wing is driving this narrative, al the while ignoring the reality that the council was an advisory role.

Let's see...unemployment rate STILL 7.8%, more people than ever permanently unemployed.

I guess the crisis has past.

Here's a sampling of these "actionable " recommendations form the Jobs council that the liberals think the house should act on:

*Invest Aggressively and Efficiently in Competitive Infrastructure and Energy

        ...raise taxes

*Nurture the High-Growth Enterprises that Create New Jobs

...lower taxes for Friends of Obama, and give them taxpayer money.

    *Launch a National Investment Initiative

        ...raise taxes, again.

*Improve and Balance Regulatory Review and Streamline Project Approvals

...say you are lowering taxes and regulations, but not really.  Instead, create some new   regulatory agencies.  Oh, and raise taxes.

*Develop Talent to Fill Today’s Jobs and Fuel Tomorrow's

        ...raise taxes.

Well, that was easy.  Why didn't they just put Al Franken in a room and give him a rorshach test?

Why do the people in this thread seem to think that Obama is able to introduce legislation?

    Because...

Obama apparently thinks he is able to create legislation, i.e. make law without going through congress via executive orders.  Dream act, amnesty, Health care details (i.e. law), etc.

BTW:  He also doens't think he needs to pay attention to the judical branch, either.  Recent NLRB ruling against him is being ignored.

The President deserves credit here, for once ending a useless government bureaucracy that expressly fails at its mission.

A government "Jobs Council" can no more create jobs than the federal "Education Department" can educate anyone.

We are all better off with one less phony government council pretending to "do something". You want to do something? Get the hell out of the way and leave the private sector alone, you statist failures.

Keep going, Mr President.  "Head Start" doesnt give poor kids a Head Start, you know.

So the free market capitalists who largely made up the bulk of the Council are now Statists?  The right likes to push this story, but again the council was advisory.  Where is the criticism for the do nothing congress, that has spent more time obstructing in the senate and revolting against everything in the house?  The leigislative body has the power here and they have obviously decided that doing nothing is better than doing something lest Obama be perceived as winning.

Lol, you guys, your derangement syndrone has metastasized into full blown lunancy.

    In response to Newtster's comment:

It was nothing but political theatrics and PR nonsense anyway. The only jobs these guys care about are public sector jobs.

That makes sense seeing how only a couple of the council members were union people and the rest were CEO's who earn millions of dollars as the heads of major US private companies.  Clearly their biggest concern is swelling the rolls of public sector jobs.

Maybe they just want their leader to lead!?

These guys were not free maerket capitalists, at least in ideology.  Immelt praised the central planning of China, and waxed nostalgically why we simply couldn't do the saem, you know, government set industry production quatas and the like.

Big business is disapointingly statist, not free market.  They all depend on government infulence as part of their competitive strength.  this is why they have lobbyists, contribute so heavily to whoever is likely to hold power, irregardless of party.

As far as Obama's job council, mostly statists, all big business, with a sprinkling of unions and theoriticians.  Small business, which does most of the hiring,  not really represented.  I found one person who is probably considered a small business owner.  Here's the list of members:

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/advisory-boards/jobs-council/members/immelt

So, what do we get for solutions from this grand advisory council?  Grand platitudes about creating opportunity, in other words, raise taxes.  But, what do you expect from a bunch of swells who don't have to worry where the next meal is coming from?
