up, no question. Bush engaged in the quote, "compromise" that liberals always insist that Republicans must engage in.
Yet Bush gets no credit for this 'moderation", the libs still hate him.

Bush/Paulson went to Congress, hat in hand, and pleaded for an open ended, no strings attached line of taxpayer money to give to corporations.
A majority of his own party rejected it.
The Dems could've also said no but they didn't.
They were the ones who wrote some, but not enough, stipulations into the original three-page "Gimmie some money" request from Bush.
If it wasn't for the Dems compromising the economy would've gone further into free-fall. More than the 9% it was already in, which was the highest contraction since the Depression.
