Proof that a Ban would have reduced the body count

Why did the CT shooter use the AR-15?  Why didn't he use the Browning 50 Caliber machine gun or the M134 minigun, or maybe the M61 Vulcan?  Certainly he would have racked up a higher body count with such weapons.

Answer:  Because the M134 Minigun and the M61 Vulcan are banned from the public.

But of course if there no bans on such weapons and the shooter had used one, TVoter would be making post and post and starting thread after thread saying the the M134 minigun shouldn't be banned.

vile exploitation of tragedy.  I'm hoping the govt takes steps to prevent the next one while people like you shrug your shoulders and say, " oh well".

It's not the gun its the deranged individual.

He could have wreaked the same havoc with the two hand guns which come with 12 to 15 round clips.  Two guns, 5 clip changes each all done in 5 minutes.

Or he could of created a series of bombs like the lunatic did in 1927.

    He didn't. For a reason.

True and I'm open to additional assult rifle limitations; I'm just not convinced of an all out ban yet.

The reason you believe is because it was accessible?

May be it was fortunate that he did not use a shotgun and buck shot which would have have killed more innocent children!

How do the reload times compare?

Are there magazines for this sort of shotgun as there are for AR-15s?

    [/QUOTE]

The reload times are longer but, they can hit multiple targets per round unlike the ar-15 single target per round.

Re: Proof that a Ban would have reduced the body count

The bottom line is, and every thinking person knows it; if every assault rifle in the world was eliminated from the face of the earth; we could and would still have tragedies like this one.

So, we need to use this event to have real discussions about the causation of these events and not make it political or agenda driven!!

    That's just a fact!!
