getting benefits ILLEGALLY.
I'd expect to see tens or hundred of billions of waste going to that given all the noise, but usually all the evidence I see is a hundred people here, a hundred people there.
Certainly, enough to call for more investigations, but also certainly not enough to justify the volume of the screaming.
The technology is available to search county, state and federal databases almost instantly.
Why not just have anyone that doesnt have picture ID go to any govt facility DMV. Post Office, court house, etc and ask for a picture ID with nothing more than a name, date and place of birth, and a SS number.
If they match and no ID has been issued, issue one for free!
I've said a million times I have absolutely no problem with the concept of a national ID provided distribution fairly accounts for the poor/disabled/etc --- people who reasonably have a problem getting a driving/liquor ID.
The only problem I have is when an ID law comes close to an election and there are shenanigans, such as Walker's implementation in Wisconsin.
They closed something like 11 ID places in Dem-heavy areas and used the savings to extend hours of ID places in Rep-heavy areas. That I can't support. And that is why people are wary.
