Reid blocks vote on Obamas Jobs (wink) Bill. Dems in disarray.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch  McConnell, in an attempt to pluck an arrow out of President Obama's rhetorical quiver, tried to get the Senate to vote on the president's $447 billion jobs bill Tuesday -- presumably to test whether Democrats have the votes to pass it.

The back-and-forth marked the latest bout of brinkmanship as Congress weighs how to approach a bill which, while labeled a priority by the president, may not have the bipartisan support needed to pass in one piece.

    Dems are in disarray...again.

When people opposed the election of Obama because of his lack of leadership skills, no executive experience and far left ideas, they were labeled racists.

All of the Dems and independents that are bailing on Obama and openly in disagreement with his presidency...are they racists too???  Just wondering....

I thought this was clever... McConnell wanting to vote on Obamas (hopefully last) bailout of unions and government workers and the Dems blinked.

They obviously don't have the votes. The WH must have love this.

This gives the repubs a great campaign talking point.. Dems refuse to vote on the Messiahs saving grace. All the while Obama continues to sing.. kinda like Nero fiddling.

    You clearly don't pay attention.

Obama is a disaster....he's so bad that I think he's losing confidence in himself.  Not good.

Yep.  Looks like the DEMOCRATS are preventing a vote on the jobs bill.  But, for the libs, why should the truth get in the way of a great narrative, false though it may be?

Sorry about the turmoil.. I'll google to see if there's a support group... (government funded of course). We're here for ya.

Re: Reid blocks vote on Obamas Jobs (wink) Bill. Dems in disarray.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday inserted a millionaire surtax to help pay for President Obama's $447 billion jobs bill, a move House Speaker John Boehner's office panned as a "desperate tax hike" gimmick.

The majority leader, who a day earlier turned away a crafty Republican bid to call a vote on the bill, dropped the surtax into the legislation in an effort to shore up support from Democrats who had voiced concerns with other tax provisions in the bill. Reid instead proposed a 5 percent income tax increase for people making more than $1 million a year.

"Even the Tea Party thinks it's time for millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share," Reid said.

The Nevada Democrat, without offering a date, pledged a vote on the bill "very, very soon."

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., later added that the vote would be held "early next week."

The move comes after Reid turned away an effort by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell to call up the bill for a vote Tuesday. Republicans were effectively trying to prove that President Obama, despite regularly calling on Congress to pass the bill, does not yet have enough support in his own party -- particularly in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Reid decried McConnell's proposal as a political stunt.

On Wednesday, Reid said the package would be open to changes and that he "looks forward to amendments." Further, he guaranteed that passage of the jobs bill would keep unemployment below 9.1 percent.

Perhaps government in turmoil is more accurate.

    Lucky us.
