In Response to Re: So what has Sarah Palin done lately? : Skeeter, I have not read the book..but if what you say is the truth..then no..I don't condone it. But...do you see the difference? The difference is that Obama is not standing on a soapbox acting as the moral authority on social issues and what people do in their personal , private lives. Obama has made no secret of his past. Gingrich on the other hand..would like to dictate who can and cannot get married in this country..etc..when it seems that he knows very little about the commitment and faithfulness that is part of social institution of marriage himself. Sorry..I don't want him acting as any kind of authority on social issues.

Your point doesn't hold water.  What does a legitimate marriage that ended in divorce have to due with Gingrich's position on Homosexual marriage?  The issues have nothing to do with one another.

And, his position on homosexual marriage is identical to Obama's.  Square that circle.

As for me, I have trouble with someone who did illegal drugs, and wrote about it as a badge of honor, being, how did you put it?  "I don't want him acting as any kind of authority on social issues."

Bad behavior is bad behavior.  you simply look the other way because it is your guy, Obama, who bought and used illegal drugs, and refuse to see how it impacts his character and credibility as President.

To be an honest poster, I have to say I agree with most of your post.

Newt and President Obama do have the same position on gay marriage.

As for looking at either of them as models regarding social issues, they both have their failings. Obama's were when he was very young, but he did break the law.

Newt's have been as a mature adult of course.

In any case, it is disingenuous for any of us to only critique those politicians on the "other" side.

Though a President should be held to the highest standards, maybe we all need to look elsewhere when setting our own moral compasses.

Okay..I don't necessarily disagree except to say that regardless of how Obama feels about gay marriage..he ( Obama ) is not in favor of DOMA and Gingrich is.
I am not on either side of the political aisle so I critique people on both. If it seems I critique to GOP candidates it's because that is the only race going right now.
I think it's a sad society that is not able to set their moral compass by that of their leader. That should say just how far down we've fallen from what we once were. I can think of a lot of politicians I like and respect..on both sides of the aisle..but Gingrich is not one of them.
It doesn't matter much. Newt's SC primary victory..for me..is evidence of two things. The first is that the GOP doesn't even know what they want..and second..and most important..is the need to move towards a national primary so that a small minority of voters does not get to determine a party nominee.

I am not fond of Sarah Palin either, but referring to a woman as a "broad" is incredibly disrespectful. I do not think I am going out on a limb here to say that we are hardly alone in this viewpoint.

jackbu...you are better than that. I have read many of your posts. You are really better than that.

Re: So what has Sarah Palin done lately?

I guess this could be because I don't watch Fox News..but I have still..yet to hear Sarah Palin's name mentioned in the media..I doubt she was very influential in SC. All the pundits have been in agreement that it is the debate performances that are making the most difference. That..and the fact that Romney was never going to win SC. It will be interesting to see what happens in FL. My guess is that if Newt has a strong debate performance, like he did last week in SC..then he will do well in FL.
I still stand by my statement that Perry dropping out helped him as well. Perry's backers would be more likely to go to Newt than to Romney.

Also..in defense of Andiejen..I am not sure which friend you are referring to..since you have so many..including me..blocked. If that is the case..then let me remind you that is your game..not mine. If you are unable to hold a conversation like an adult on a discussion board then maybe you should bow out...or better yet..stick to channel 5. I am sure you would be happier there anyhow.

Thank you for the advice. How about commenting on the message, which was that palin was influential in the outcome in sc. I have seen your posts too, they seem oddly familiar to my friend who I blocked here and other sites.

    jackbu:

I do not understand what you mean my my posts seem "oddly familiar to" etc. unless you are implying I have posted under another name. The only name I have ever posted under is the one I have...andiejen. And in that time I have only used two avatars.

As for your message, aside from the "old broad palin" portion, if you mean she put him over the top, I do not agree. Newt won S.C. as we all know by double digits. I do not believe Palin gave him the edge he needed as you put it. If Newt had eeked it out, than maybe Palin might have helped deliver those extra votes, but he hardly eeked it out.

And in case my implication was not clear, IMO you are a good poster. My critique was not of you as a poster, but of one post. The same critique miscricket had of your post. May be a coincidence, but she and I are the only two women who post regularly in the forums. Just saying.

Gee, jackbu, that was easy. So you agree that referring to Sarah Palin as a "broad" was inappropriate.

And you also agree that she did not give Newt the edge he needed in S.C. on further retrospect.

So nice to be in agreement and getting along.

All right-minded thinkers get under the liberal's skin.  It matters not if Sara, you, or me, says something intelligent or stupid (not that we ever do, mind you).

The first set of responses from Airhead, WDYWN, Matty, Reuben, nearly always call us stupid, deranged, or unable to think "critically".  I love that last one.  It is a billboard that the left uses to announce that they are "smart", you are "stupid".  What a way to engage in conversation.

So, When Sara opens her mouth, the last thing the left can do is admit that she might have a point.  It destroys the narrative that they depend on so strongly to support their candidates, particularly among the unthinking masses of the left.

In Response to Re: So what has Sarah Palin done lately? : No, we use those references because they are accurate. Case in point, how you ran like a screaming schoolgirl from your post on oil taxes. You defended Palin for doing the exact same thing as what's in the oil-tax bill. That's what idiots do. They contadict themselves out of their ideological ignorance and partisan political persuasion. You are incapable of NOT contadicting yourself. It's who you are. You are morally and intellectually bankrupt and base you posts on ignorance, opinion and what the echo chambers tell you. You're a lemming on a crash course with reality and you refuse to admit either. So carry on in your delusion. You and the other like-minded lemmings make quite a picture. All backsides sliding over the cliff yet accusing others of 'lack of critical thinking' because we refuse to follow you to your ignanimous end. And Palin is a lively topic because she embodies the wingnut preponderance to rhetoric over reality. Her raising taxes in AK to the point of doubling the tax revenue over what the budget was. She raised taxes to $11 billion even though the $6 billion state budget was in surplus. She raised the socialist payout 60% or $1200 from $2100/yr to $3200/yr. And you idiots champion her as a fiscal conservative tax cutter. No wonder you morons are such easy targets.
    Posted by airborne-rgr

You said all that without an utterance of the term wingnut. Give yourself a pat on the back.
