Stand Your Ground law was a "liberal" idea, therefore Obama cannot now oppose such laws

The endless stupid progressive talking point is that, because some conservative thinktank in 1994 included the idea of mandatory health insurance, twenty years later the statist disaster ObamaCare, a government takeover of 1/6 of the economy,  is a "conservative idea" and cannot be opposed by conservatives, it is "hypocrisy" or racism or something.

Well, then , turns out then-state Senator Obama in 2004 co-sponsored a law expanding the Illinois Stand Your Ground law, which passed by huge margins in the Democrat Legislature and signed by a Democrat Governor., without much controversy..

Why, that means "Stand Your Ground" laws is a liberal idea, and obviously Obama cannot now oppose these laws!!

Re: Stand Your Ground law was a

So Obama as a state senator could care less that in his state of Illinois there was and is no common law 'duty to retreat', somewhat equivalent to a Stand Your Ground statute.
Bottom line, he can change his mind or evolve or 'grow' based on new circumstances or different situations ; he can try to implement his (failed in my view) liberal philosophy. Fine and dandy.

Only conservatives can't oppose the radical statist implementation of ObamaCare because in 1994 one thinktank, the Heritage Foundation flirted with the idea of mandated health insurance coverage. So even though NO Republican voted for Obamacare, it is still ludicrously purported to be a modest 'conservative' idea, now and forever. Single payer as well must be a conservative idea, because Teddy Roosevelt once said something roughly equivalent a century ago.

"Flip flop" should have a basic statute of limitations of about a decade.

Illinois does not have a Stand your Ground law, and the bill Obama voted for only prohibited people from suing indiiduals found to have used justifable force in defending themselves under the existing self defense provision that was inplace since 1961.  As pointed out above, the FL law and IL laws are not the same.
