State-run liberal media hacks get rewarded with cushy Obama government jobs

Richard Stengel, the top editor of Time magazine for the past seven years, is planning to step down as managing editor for a new job at the U.S. Department of State, sources familiar with the situation tell POLITICO and Capital New York. (For liberal media services rendered, no doubt...)

If confirmed, Stengel will serve as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.....

At the State Department, Stengel will find himself in the company of other veteran liberal journo-lists....

The revolving door of the Liberal establishment....

Last week, as first reported by The Huffington Post, the White House announced that Douglas Frantz, late of The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post, has been named the State Department’s assistant secretary for public affairs. Glen Johnson, formerly The Boston’s Globe’s political editor, took a position as a senior state department advisor earlier this year.

. The Washington Post's Ed O'Keefe has semi-regularly kept tabs on the number of reporters working for Obama administration, counting 10 in May 2009, 14 in 2010, and 13 in 2011. The Washington Examiner's Paul Beddard counted 19 reporters working for "Team Obama" in February 2012, but he included liberal advocacy groups as part of the "team."

    breitbart:

....the fact that this many so-called journalists from outlets as influential as CBS, ABC, CNN, Time, the Washington Post, Boston Globe, and the Los Angeles Times want to work at the very same administration they are supposed to hold accountable, is not only troubling, it also explains a lot.

Why would anyone enamored enough with an Obama administration they want to go work for, do anything that might make a potential employer uncomfortable -- you know, like actually report on ObamaCare and the economy honestly, or dig into Benghazi and the IRS?

The media is left-wing and crusading enough without the potential of a cushy government job being held out as a carrot.

And don't think the Obama administration isn't doling out these jobs for a reason. What a wonderful message to send to the world of media: Don't go too far, don't burn a bridge, don't upset us too much and there just might be a lifeline off the sinking MSM ship.

    And obviously it is working.

On top of this problem, you have a number of top news network executives related to top Obama officials, many of them at the center of the Benghazi scandal - which also explains a lot.

George Steph., ABC News drector and Democratic hack ...odds he will bring up this issue...slim to none... NY Gov Cuomo's brother works at ABC News as well....

Yawn.  The position has often been filled by people with backgrounds in Media, and is nothing new, since the nature of the job is using media to create certain desired perceptions of the UNited States abroad.  The position has only existed since 1999 and Clinton only had one appointee who had previously worked as a Press Secretary and later for Voice of America as director.  Under George Bush the following individuals served in that role and they all had media backgrounds

James Kenneth Glassman:  Before taking the job at State Glassman was a journalist, publisher, and and economic business writer.  He also served as a manager in the DC area for public broadcasting

Karen Hughes:  Worked as a TV news reporter for 7 years, before taking a press job for the Reagan Bush campaign in 1984, from thereshe continued in government eventually being appointed to State by GWB in 2005

Charlotte Beers:  Worked as a high level executive for two advertsing and marketing firms before turning to government work at Dept of State.

Leave it to the socially inept not to understand how public relations and the media are interrelated...

...much less to express vomitous outrage at something every single administration has done since the beginning of time...

...all while quoting the intensely yellowed, discredited shell remaining of breitbart...

I'm sure conservatives never ever do any such things.

I'm sure that you would never call them on it if they did.

    Public relations? LOL.

    Red state:

"There are Republicans who have gone into the media as objective reporters and there are objective reporters who have gone into Republican politics. But it is several orders of magnitude more on the liberal side and even rarer to see a conservative activist/partisan journalist transition from a rightwing blog or publication to objective reporter or bureau chief for a major media outlet."

From the Gabrielle Giffords shooting as a way to lament the crazy tea party and Sarah Palin’s target list to not devoting nearly as much attention to the shooter at the FRC who used the Southern Poverty Law Center to draw up a target list, the media does have serious bias against conservatives. The Democrat-Left-Media establishment trade stories with each other, help build media narratives, and coordinate their messaging because of their natural biases and affinities for each other.

As soon as reporters, producers, and networks are willing to admit that bias — a bias that goes to the very presuppositions of what stories to cover and how to cover them — they might be able to turn the corner and regain trust. But I am quite confident the press corps is quite happy just as they are.

Conservatives must work much harder than liberals to cut through the media bias. It is possible. But it is also hard work.

I was referring to the Global warming report, not the conservative media...now by all means go off on another rant..

And by the way, even the Washington Post did an analysis of how unprecedented the Obama Administration has been in hiring so many reporters,  who were supposed to be objectively reporting....

The level of your retort seems to indicate that you understand that the level and numbers of press to the White House has been bigger under the Obama Administration than in past administrations, but are hesitant to admit it.  Why?

Seems that those who worship the dear leader are also angling for jobs.  The rest are just lap dogs, hanging on every word.
