I don't know about 5 days but Fox has exposed numerous issues within the Obama administration.  ACORN, the Czars, no transparencey.

Keep up the good work Fox.  The other news agencies won't.

Re: THANK GOOOOODNESS FOR GLENN BECK,

Not sure about this, but it doesn't sound like a great strategy coming from the White House.  It's one thing to deny interview requests, but it's quite another to explicitly call them out.

However, Gibbs' statement evidently mocks Fox' opinion-based programming, saying it's their "opinion" that FNN isn't a "serious news station.

Said it before - I think FoxNews serves a purpose as a foil for the other stations (the point Gibbs was trying to make, IMO).  There isn't nearly enough objective media criticism today, and while FNN has earned their share, so have the "other networks.

Its a stretch to blame Bush for teen pregnancy, but his administration did act pretty radically in opposition to condom distribution (not that you can make the assumption that would help), going so far as executing witch hunts and cutting off funding to school districts that dared maintain state or local sponsored programs.

Beck's tears are fake.  He's an actress.

Gibbs gets kicked night in the ruts by ABC reporter.

Good for you ABC! Someone in your organization has a pair of stones!

    Political Punch
Power, pop, and probings from ABC News Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper

Tapper: It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –

    (Crosstalk)

Gibbs: Jake, we render, we render an opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness that, the fairness of that coverage.

Tapper: But that’s a pretty sweeping declaration that they are “not a news organization.” How are they any different from, say –

    Gibbs: ABC -

Tapper: ABC. MSNBC. Univision. I mean how are they any different?

Gibbs: You and I should watch sometime around 9 o’clock tonight. Or 5 o’clock this afternoon.

Tapper: I’m not talking about their opinion programming or issues you have with certain reports. I’m talking about saying thousands of individuals who work for a media organization, do not work for a “news organization” -- why is that appropriate for the White House to say?

    Gibbs: That’s our opinion.

Of course, it marginlizes the republicans.  They are not wildly popular, I think 19% of the people approve of the conservatives in Congress.  So, all they're screaming and hollering is not working.  Moreover, this election in upstate New York has the teabaggers/conservative party going against a republican!  And they are really going at it!  The Republican party is split!!!  That does not bode well for 2010 comkeback, for half the votes will go to  the teabaggers and half will go to a republican candidate.  Those are facts, not opinion.  HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?

They have as many news shows as CNN and MSNBC. Watch tonight from 6-8 when they have discussions on major news of the day. Is ABC a news organization? CBS? NBC? Fox has as much news only as they do (more actually).

You shouldn't be so harsh on state-run media NBC.  Once in a while it will dare to mildly criticize the President.

The czars were not the issue per se. The issue was WHO the czars were and what they stood for. Doesn't it concern you that this WH BS has all come down on the news station that exposed Van Jones, Acorn et al? It looks to me like the WH is trying to use old style Chicago politics to intimidate Fox and the other networks to ignore those types of stories.

Re: THANK GOOOOODNESS FOR GLENN BECK,

The funny part (often very funny) is that the most astute and generally impartial news media critic on television is Jon Stewart.

His political leanings are well-known; yet his criticism of what's dismissively known as the "mainstream media" is populist and not far from the opinions of many conservatives - even those who ritually tune into FoxNews.  He consistently rips the tongues out of CNN and shows it to them. A recent DS montage of CNNers cutting off real debates with the phrase "leave it there" was priceless.

But then consider the size of the target.  It's extremely hard to point to positive examples of real journalism or attention to the important issues of the day on the cable news airwaves...probably because they are so rare.

Didn't the balloon incident teach us anything?

    Jon Stewart "impartial" ?
Surely you jest, like Jon himself would jest....
He is clever and often funny, but he is a Leftie thru and thru.

The "important issues of the day" depends on your perspective....the 'state run' networks never thought ACORN or Van Jones was "important"...

Glenn Beck is a large part of the reason that only 20% of the voters in this country are willing to call themselves Republicans.
