The kiss of death.
Conservative Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, where did you go wrong?
A flat tax advocate, which he implemented in Utah very successfully !
Ambassador to China.
Here is a guess: Probably in sucking up to the liberal media by claiming you were the "sane" candidate. Insulting those who dont buy the climate change hype.
Enjoying a bit too much the NY Times profile and gushy liberal praise.
The liberal media always selects the least conservative GOP candidate, and uses him to bash the others. Huntsman, you let yourself be used. -

It's not so much an endorsement for Huntsman for President as it is an endorsement for sanity.

...especially since Mitt has been proclaiming his local familiarity with NH voters as a known entity.

The op-ed concept seems to escape you entirely.
What, you thought they would endorse Saint Santorum or Grouchy Gingrich...?? -

The Globe has been a bit confused on this concept for many years as well...it's Op Eds are found on every page, especially its news coverage and its polls... -

That way you don't have to believe anything you read here which you don't agree with.

I get the sarcasm.
But it doesn't speak to whether the endorsement or the campaign itself are your targets. (Both?)
I mean, if the Globe is as much of a obama-shill as you and bobin claim, then why should they endorse ANY gop candidate at all...?? -
Re: The Boston Globe endorses Huntsman

I doubt whether an endorsement wins any votes. Certainly not as many as ACORN...
Perhaps the endorsement is only endorsing the new media itself.
The media perceptions becomming reality myth is shattered going by the last election cycle.
I'd doing good on my New Years resolutions so far. I will be nice in 12. -

Matty, what does a Boston Massachusetts paper have to do with his claim of familiarity with NH voters? Did you just have a Bachman moment?
He should win the primary going away. If not then... -

Because that is how the paper business works. They endorse one from each party for each primary, then their REAL choice in the general. Who do you guess that will be?
Of more interest and news, is the Union Leader and their Newt endorsement. Let's see how that goes... -

Romney was talking to folks in Salem, NH and saying that they should know who he is and what he's all about due to his tenure as Mass. gov, e.g., 'you know me, I worked down the street for four years'.
Sorry if I was too glib to be clear.
The Globe is the largest circulation daily in New England. While arguable, their endorsement is not meaningless. -

I assure you their endorsement in the GOP primary is 100% meaningless. To most if not all Republican's and a large percentage of conservative unenrolled's it is meaningless. The Union Leader has much more sway in NH. -

The Globe's endorsement of Huntsman is a double edged sword. It will be interpreted by your perspective of the Globe.
If your hard right the Globe endorsement confirms that Huntsman is shudder, a RINO because he isn't hard enough right; after all he supports civil unions (because he believes in rights)even though he believes in traditional marriage, although always prolife he accepts the need for abortion under rape, incest and health threat to mother, shudder he believes in science and acknowledges man has some impact on the environment but he's unconvinced as to how much so he's not willing to go to cap and trade unless it is economically viable.
If your a fiscal conservative and right of center on social issues like most American's then you believe the Globe endorsement has value.
The next few days in NH will be fun.
Gingrich has a Romney scorch the earth death wish which will damage both.
Paul and his wacky PAC will continue to cause people the rethink their support of Paul especially based on the Munchurian candidate attack add against Huntsman.
Santorum is too socially conservative for NH and his surge won't contine there.
Ever the optimist:
Romney 40% (not good for home advantage)
Huntsman 30%
Gingrich 10%
Santorum 9%
Paul 8%
Perry 3% -

Skeeter,
As I stated above the endorsement is a double edged sword.
But skeeter have you actually looked at Huntsman's stand on issues or read any of his positions?
He calls himself a consistent conservative and most websites and provide ratings on candidates agree he is aright of center fiscal conservative.
Always prolife,
Always for 2nd amendment, not just lately
Always small government
Supports traditional marriage, holds it as a state right but he supports civil unions to protect committed couples rights
Initiated flat tax in Utah
Made Utah #1 in job growth why Romney muddle it (during the same time period)
Probusiness and knows businesses create jobs
Wants to reign in regulation
Strong supporter of US energy; gas and oil development and keystone pipeline
Trusts science; acknowledges man has an impact on the environment but he's not convinced as to how much so he won't support cap and trade until its financially viable.
He has served 3 presidents as an Ambassador, successful governor and businessman,....no one has his credentials.
Yes he is guilty of not signing silly pledges and pandering to social issues crusades because he's more conerned about the job creation, the economic direction of the country and our growing and future problems in Asia. -

Well, we see it differently. Do you really believe conservatives don't believe in science? Huntsman and Al Gore both believe in the discredited "science" of global warming. I know you are usually a moderate, but you are sounding more like a liberal with a comment like that, and I wonder how many more items you have closed your mind to, such as gay marriage being a right. If gay marriage is a right, so is every other form of sexual attraction, no matter how bizarre.
Huntsman has some conservative points, and some not so conservative points.
Still, I would vote for him. Not sold on anybody, really. Maybe Gingrich. -

Everyone to the left of you is a progresive out to subvert the American dream. Of course that is every one... but no matter.
And scientists actually believe in global warming (unthinking conservatives do not). And equal protection is actually in the Constitution: look it up some time. -
