Because the Democrats are the Party of Government.

They will always and forevermore refuse to reform or trim any aspect of their Regulatory Nanny State. They buy votes by Government coercively redistributing others' income.

They represent only Government bureaucrats, Government employees, and their unions.

If true, then that's a majority of the voting public...

...seeing as they got more votes overall in the last election.

Right now and with passage of the ACA they are simply trying to use bully tactics and push through this debacle since it's the "centerpiece" and "crowning achievement" of their party the last 5 years.

What's insane is they refuse to negotiate and then get the party line parrots to call republicans "the party of no" and "obstructionist" and say they refusing to negotiate!

it's just politics as usual in washington and one that may ruin our way of life!

Why close the mall when it's covered by homeland security cameras, you know the essential personnel?  The effort to close the mall memorial cost more then leaving it open.  Could it be the Obama Administration is just trying to make this as uncomfortable as possible? Veterans break past World War II Memorial barricade   Posted by

Update 1:45 p.m. ET: House GOP leadership sources tell CNN they plan to vote on a series of bills to fund the government, beginning Tuesday with three measures–spending for veterans, the District of Columbia and the Park Service.

Washington (CNN) – Busloads of World War II veterans, many in wheelchairs, broke past a barricade Tuesday morning to cross into the World War II Memorial, as onlookers applauded and a man playing the bagpipes led the way.

Moments earlier, a few Republican members of Congress had removed a section of the black gates that surrounded the site, allowing a line of veterans to roll past security officers, who willingly stood aside.

The GOP's "small appropriations" strategy: bringing stupidity and dishonesty.

The whole point of what they were doing was to force a shut down, force a debt default, so that Democrats would feel so bad about the pain the GOP was causing America that they'd repeal Obama's signature legislation before it went into effect.

The pain caused by the GOP is the GOP's leverage. Now they want to make their own shutdown less painful?

“American voters oppose 72-22 percent Congress shutting down the federal government to block implementation of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare …

Voters also oppose 64-27 percent blocking an increase in the nation’s debt ceiling as a way to stop Obamacare …

American voters are divided on Obamacare, with 45 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed, but they are opposed 58-34 percent to Congress cutting off funding for the health care law to stop its implementation. Republicans support the federal government shutdown by a narrow 49-44 percent margin, but opposition is 90-6 percent among Democrats and 74-19 percent among independent voters.

President Barack Obama gets a negative 45-49 percent overall job approval rating, [statistically unchanged from] 46-48 percent score August 2.

American voters disapprove 74-17 percent of the job Republicans in Congress are doing, their lowest score ever, and disapprove 60-32 percent of the job Democrats are doing.”

At the end of the day, it simply reveals that the TP-GOP and their BDC sycophants hate Dems so much that it doesn't matter what the GOP does to fight Dems, as long as they're fighting them. And Dems are so very evil that no matter what the GOP does to fight the Dems, it's still the Dems fault, because the Dems made the GOP fight them.

That's the argument we keep seeing, right? Though of course they aren't honest enough to admit it.

It's all "but Obama's MAKING us do this because he won't repeal or defund Obamacare, so we HAVE to. It's not OUR fault. It's HIS....

....(for not running as a Republican I suppose?)."
