    facepalm...

This is a still-shot from the play " Life of Julia".  In this scene, Julia pulls the hair of a taxpayer for refusing to buy her birth control.

What happened to the original comment ?

It was removed as it should be.

    A. It makes no sense, as the male cartoon character cannot "choose" to have an abortion, as he cannot ever become pregnant.

    B. The character Lucy tries to indicate that Linus does not have the "choice" to smoke or guzzle soft drinks ( of course he can't buy the cigarettes until he is of age). But , he still has these choices as he does have a choice to worship as he pleases.

    C. ( The most likely reason), The cartoon characters Lucy and Linus are copyrighted and probably cannot be used without permission.

A and B are not good reasons for censorship.

I agree that A&B are not good reasons for censorship. It's always good to put our provocative stuff  and let people discuss it. If this is the cartoon I think it is ( a FB friend posted it..lots of heated discussion ensued!) then my guess is that it has more to do with the TM. I highly doubt the Peanuts TM wants to be associated with a controversial ( and factually incorrect)conversation.

That said..the internets have really made a nightmare situation for trademarks. It's really better to respect the law and respect someone else's intellectual property. Just because you find something on the internet..doesn't mean you need to continue the dissemination.
