This shows our federal govt is completely out of touch and JOKE!

The U.S. Department of Education has officially opened an investigation into allegations that an Arizona high school’s campus-wide “Redneck Day” amounted to a federal civil rights violation.

The kerfuffle giving rise to the investigation arose back in May at Queen Creek High School on the outskirts of Phoenix. The student council hatched a plan to energize students for prom week that included a faculty adviser-approved “Redneck Day.” The point was to dress like – and spoof – “Duck Dynasty,” an A&E reality TV show which follows a wealthy, eccentric Louisiana family.

Maybe they should have called it "Duck Dynasty Day" and told people to leave their Confederate Flags (AKA HillBilly Swastika) at home.

And no.  This doesn't prove the federal goverment is a JOKE

According to the article it was ONE person who had a confederate flag and it was dealt with immediately.

What's wrong with "redneck day"? Sure, rednecks can be racist, but not all racists are rednecks. Racists come from all walks of life...rich, poor, white, black, educated, non-educated, male, female, religious, atheist, and on and on.

The theme was supposed to be a spoof on Duck Dynasty and ONE person took it too far. And again, it was dealt with quickly with the flag being taken away with no protest from the student.

True. It only proves that the Department of Education has been politicized and has way to much money and time on their hands.

The DOE should be investigating "redneck day". Seems schools should be teaching, not promoting TV shows and playing dress up.

I see Captain Buzzkill has shown up. Schools shouldn't try to have fun activities once in a while. Nope, should be all business all the time. For get things like Spirit Week which many schools have where they allow the students to do fun things. Get rid of any kind of fun.

They got a formal complaint, so they are investigating it.  When they discover that it was harmless prom event, they will end the investigation and move on.  Its part of their job.

Meanwhile, gutter websites like Daily Caller pick up the 'story' and slap a photo of Al Sharpton next to the headline (as if he has anything to do with this), and you get 400+ racist comments.

Rednecks can get offended, too, it seems.

While for come it may be a source of semantic pride, others might take it as a cultural slur.

Surely, the label "yankee" grates on some people, too.

Bring back the war on christmas.

At least then the whacko wingnuts had a subject that mattered, national religious holidays.

Wingnuts really are the crazy-angry-get-off-my-lawn-white-guy party.

They just troll echo chambers looking for things to get mad about.... and muttering.

This doesn't happen when wingnuts are in charge....

    or

    See, we should abolish gov't.

    Freakin Hilarious!!!!

War on Christmas? W T F does that nonsense have to do with this thread? Seriously...drinking this early in the day is dangerous

Diversity is good. Tolerance is good.

Getting offended by an inanimate object because of what YOU think it means when others have a stated different meaning is just being insecure and weak.

Being intolerant in the name tolerance is just as wrong.

I've been saying the same for years about things like flags and ribbons and crosses only to be branded as "un-american", "commie", etc., etc....

To many conservatives, "diversity" is anathema and likewise "un-american".  Just ask Steve King, who never met a person of color he couldn't denigrate in some way.
