Ya know ... I've seen "LGBTQ" used for the first time in my life

and got to wondering what the 'Q' stood for.

... I sorta knew it didn't mean what I first thought it meant!

So I googled "LGBTQ" and came up with this ...

     http://www.depts.ttu.edu/scc/Virtual_Library/lgbtq.php

My enterpretation of "Q" means there is now an open door

    for impressionable youth, etc..

    Frown That bothers me.
You think it "opens the door for impressionable youth"? You think a kid can somehow be duped into being gay? Either a person is gay or they are not.
Exactly. I have had gay friends forever and I am still straight as an arrow.

    It does not rub off.

Sorry spidey. I have to disagree with you on this one.
I don't think you and I are at a point of disagreement since you and I have not had much of a discussion on this gay matter.

.. What does the 'Q' in 'LGTBQ' mean to you?

I too have had many friends that are gay and I have had many opportunities to observe and discuss, with them, their gay leanings.

Therefore I have concluded that my opinion/s are the correct opinions.

I've lived in downtown Bostons theatrical (gay) district for several years, visited P-town and Key West many times both before and after the gay revolution.

I've raised 5 children and none of them are gay because we believe in mother nature's natural way and not nature's un-natural way ...
Then it's entirely one of your five spawn is a "Q".
I don't understand what you mean ...

    Please explain ...
Just guessing what jed meant, spidey.

There are 5 letters in the acronym that ends in "Q". You have 5 children.

So, it is entirely possible that one of your children is a "Q".

Of course this would mean our population is divided evenly among the people represented in that acronym...which it is not...so I am probably not correct.

Or something to do with the percent of our population that is homosexual.

I believe it is app. 10 percent so if you had 10 children, statistics point to one of them being homosexual.

jed is obviously going to have to give you a definitive answer.

And what is that coming from? Sounds like you might be making it up.

The science is in. It has genetic and epi-genetic components. Sexual orientation is determined well before people become sexually active.
No such science exists.  You must be confusing it with global warming.

Still, you want to be gay? Have at it.

I am glad you liked the bulk of my "love post" as you named it though surprised. Given your stated feelings my post ran contra to them. You have me confused.

So I will ask you a question and answer yours.

Regarding NAMBLA and gay adoption. These two things are entirely different. I am perfectly fine with gay adoption. Need I say I in no way condone NAMBLA whatsoever.

As for adults. Are you alright with homosexual relationships or not? And if not, why not?

-Either a person is gay or they are not.
Children are easily influenced by material that considers homosexuality as a norm.

Many children are '"duped" (as you put it) because of their first sexual experiences.

If the experience is with the same sex (usually a gay adult) then that can lead to a second .. and so on!

At that point one might say "I'm gay" and continue their gay lifestyle.
You are out of your mind. If a child has a "sexual experience" with an adult then that isn't a sexual experience. That is rape. I haven't heard of one case of a rape victim who based their sexual preference on that.
I did not say 'forced sex' did I?

    Rethink what I said ...
Oh so you're talking about all those children who are having consensual sex with gay adults....got it....wow....you really are off the reservation.

I have no problem with gays doing 'their thing' in privacy just as I do 'my thing' in privacy.

But our city has a problem with the gays in public parks and rest-rooms.

The city just tore down a rest room because of its frequent use by gays for sex.

Also gays cruising the streets looking to 'hook-up' with other gays.

Civil Union is ok with me but not their wanting to butt into Christian churches in order to

feel like what they do is ok with Jesus/God.

I'm definetly against adoption since their lifestyle doesn't support procreation and adoption

is a means to continue the homosexual lifestyle.

As I've already stated, I have mingled (not in bed) with many gays and have come to

    appreciate their flair for art.

Daytona had a huge gay bar, dance floor, stage room and even an outside garden fenced

    from the street for privacy.

My wife and I would go there frequently because we liked the diversity.

Also there was 'The Zodiac Lounge' with a fantastic light show and floor.

There were drag performances every evening and dancing. We enjoyed that as well.

So to sum it all up .. I (we) only object to unnecessary public flaunting .. Christian invasion

..  gay adoption .. and, of course, NAMBLA!

Have you ever read the 'Gay Manifesto'?

Many gays are quite intelligent and I enjoy conversing with them as they do with I.
spidey,

First. I really hate to see so many posters I respect, like, are good people all involved in this exchange that has ramped up to such hurtful things. I know in the heat of the momemt discussion can go out the window and turn into this. I also know one or more of you may later regret some of he things you said. I am not preaching. I know this from rather recent experience. It is far from easy to ramp it down and bring it back to a discussion I know but I hate to have any of you suffer the way I sufferred when I did not.

spidey, I can agree with you on a lot of what you said but not all of it. I know it is hard when you are being piled on. You feel justified in striking back. This isue is obviously one of your strong button.

As I said before, I am completely comfortable with gay adoption. So many children need a home, a family. Our very best friends are a gay couple of over 20 years. They are a lovely couple. They would have made wonderful parents.

I also believe in same sex marriage which as you know started here in MA.

I respect your other opinions but I am not easy with the way you expressed them.

Maybe tomorrow when eveyone has calmed down a bit, we all can discuss the issues without the mean spirtedness. Perhaps we can make some progress after we sleep on it.

We should not need this, but with the news of Gregory's passing, it is a reminder that sometimes there is no chance to fix things up with another. I thank the stars I had a wonderful relationship with Greg and nothing to fix up.

What can I say? I don't tolerate intolerance.

It's one thing for someone to not be up on the science and therefore still be laboring under the delusion that homosexuality is some sort of free choice. But for someone to compare a loving gay couple adopting a child to raise.....with NAMBLA? That's just ugly.
Show us the science.  A link would help.

Somehow, I think that if the science existed, in the current political climate, such news would even trump global warming.
