A massive number of job seekers gave up: 315,000 left the work force.
That explains a lot of the drop. -

Obama saved us .. and the planet just like he promised.
The next sound you hear will be the US economy being flushed down the toilet.

By the end of the week something bad will off-set this pseudo-good-news.
Oh, BTW, my company laid-off 100 workers on Thursday, 12/1.
Happy days are here again! -

From boston.comLast week, Talbots said it is slashing another 100 jobs at its headquarters, abruptly suspending its national advertising campaign, and embarking on a new $50 million cost-cutting effort after reporting its third loss in the past four quarters. Third-quarter sales dropped 6.6 percent to $279.5 million, and the company lost $22 million between August and October.

Talbots has been cutting jobs and costs for years. Their operation has been the model of inefficiency for too long.Consumer spending is on the rise yet Talbots keeps posting losses. That says that people just don't want to shop there. Can't blame Obama for that. -

Just imagine... Obama cutting costs like Talbots instead of spending like a drunk sailor when on the verge of a depression. We might not be in this mess.
Maybe there is a parallel.. When businesses lose money they go out of business.
Governments learn no such lesson althought the voters might help them out the door. -

Kittyduke- surely you know that government and business do not run with the same mission. Basic economics there. Nice try at spin, but there is simply not a demand for Talbots . They are overpriced and that is why they are losing money. Even a smart gal such as yourself should understand the difference between government and business. -

How did you know I was a lonely smokin hot chic?
Talbots destiny may be sealed.
What happens when the govt is over priced? Is the only recourse to throw the bums out?
I submit that government should live with their (OUR) budget.
Printing trillions in funny money is part of the problem. not the solution.
