Which would also open the question:  How plausibly long before the Virginian changes his avatar?

    Until the bitter end...

To prevent Obama from continuing to run on "Bush did it" , it may be helpful if the VP selection has zero connection to George W Bush (therefore excluding Jeb Bush, Daniels, Portman), but rather have connections to the new generation , Tea Party friendly GOP  (McDonnell, Christie, Ryan, Rubio, or Kelly Ayotte, who is rising in the list)

Re: VP sweepstakes: Who will it be?

Jeb Bush is now demurring explicitly in favor of Mr. Rubio.  Mr. Rubio is campaigning with Mr. Romney.  Tryouts?  Has Mr. Romney received his orders from The Establishment?  Then again, The Establishment did first appoint Mr. Cheney as his son's "recruiter".

The Virginian can be the only one left here who would argue that The Republican Establishment didn't get Mr. Romney to where he is.

    How soon they forget.
Early on in the primary process, Firewind, the Conventional Wisdom was that the "Republican Establishment" such as it is,  didnt like Romney and,  after Pawlenty slipped, they tried to recruit Jeb Bush,  Mitch Daniels, and last but not least, Chris Christie, to derail Romney.....

Mitten's best choice for a running mate would be.......... Mittens. What better way to cover both sides of every issue. Perfect!
