Re: What should our Govt do about N Korea attacking S Korea??

the US should do exactly nothing, including any financial incentives. disputed waters and south korea running their own military excercises. the mental midget is posturing.

this isn't just the US's problem. any unilateral action leads to problems with China. this is a UN problem. i am pretty sure the whole world could do without a WW3.
honestly though, China should just put down their own dog and save everyone else the trouble.

he is definately going to be crazier than dad, no doubt. the handpicked apple does not fall far from the tree

I personally think its time for NK to suffer a devastating nuclear accident at one of their enrichment plants and we could say we knew they weren't capable of protecting weapons grade plutonium.

The George Washington battle group is headed to the area, lots of opportunities for special forces for go ashore.

Our response was (Condemnation and a letter from Obama saying he was "outraged") that oughta do it.

Meanwhile China and Russia decide to stop using the US Dollar for bilateral deals and, they have a big party and announcement ceremony!! Then say oh it's just a way to help us and no reflection on US currency!?!?!? uh really???

There are no coincidences in Politics.

BTW, China's response to NK bombing the SK island was "no comment"!

IMO they will continue to press the US and see how far we will go to avoid confrontation!

BTW again, the UN response was "we will send more aid to NK"  SERIOUSLY!!!!

    It's obsurd!!

We have all been waiting on the regime to die from within. 16 years and counting!!

The son could be even more derranged than his father.

It comes to a point where you have to be willing to stand up and say enough is enough. At this point imo China, NK and their lot think the US will do anything and give anything to avoid conflict.

Just as Kennedy learned in the cuban missle crisis, if, you flinch they will keep taking and making you weaker until your defeated. Kennedy drew a line in the sand and if, you do this (put missles 90 mi off our coast) we will consider it an act of war and response with all our might.

No one wants war!! It's a a very high stakes poker game and we are being bluffed in folding, so we must not call but, raise significatly and make them fold or go to war!!

That's just what the country needs right now, a THIRD war.

We aren't playing with chess pieces and we can't keep sending our troops all over the globe to fight.

This is crazy, on one hand people claim we are so broke that we have to cut social programs, defund healthcare, and lower taxes for millionaires so they can pocket an extra 100K that will become the engine to power jobs growth (even though evidence shows this not to be true).  Everyone has get on with less, well almost everyone anyway.  Now NK fires some shells at an island no one has ever heard of and its time to get our boys and girls on boats and off to the pacific to fight those rat-bastard commies.  How?  We're broke!  We are going to borrow money from China to fight one of the allies?

Why is it anytime NK acts out or Iran says something the immediate response is GO TO WAR.  Even after almost 10 years of constant war, people still fail to fully grasp the full scope of what happens once bullets start flying.

WAR IS NOT AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE TO EVERY SLIGHT OR MINOR DISTURBANCE IN THE INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM.

    Who said go to war?

The "some island we never heard of" is very obtuse. Galveston is an Island; Hawai is an island. There were many people terrorized, injured and several killed on this "island we never heard of". It's not about the island.

We were completely broke (not like today but, really, really broke) before WWII also.

I am not advocating war, I am saying we need to stand for something and not keep backing down everytime a bully starts pushing us or our friends around because it just empowers the bully and makes things harder.

There are many ways to defeat a country without going to war and this is exactly what our enemies are depending on!!

But, when the threat of war or serious retaliation is basically off the table (perseption is reality). The bullies have all the power and will get stronger.

    What we should do?

    Nothing!!
Israel attacked the Palestinians (vice-versa) everyday!

Let's start getting out of Umbrella policy business.
Leave the United nation too---shut it down!
No more sacrificing our boys for the flag burning azzez.

Stay at home, create jobs, make our economy stronger.
    Peace through strength.

I would agree except our economy is not an isolationist economy. Without global trade and alliances we would be devastated domestically in very short order.

the best thing we could do is figure out how to get the masses internet access. They will see how the rest of the world (democracy's) are living and revolt. The citizens are used to their own governments propaganda so the old ways will not work. (radio, fliers, underground)

The citizens need to feel the rest of the world would love an open and free north Korea.

One more thing, the USA will not take point on this one. The rest of the world can help us out a bit.

I'm not saying we don't trade. 99% of the countries are not concern policing the world ....they still trade.

No more protecting anyone...no more cop'sing the world. Let the Opec
protect themselves, compete with Europeans, compete with Asians, forget Nafta.....forget UNITED NATION....CLOSE THE DARN THING.
Park the Trident and Enterprise home. Let's watch overhead.

If the middle east is so volatile, give 'em a match.

    Strickly business.
If we need to declare neutral...so be it.

Yes there are.  That topic was someting Moscow and Beijing have been working on for some time now, just because you are only hearing about it now doesn't validate that there was some secret deliberation happening.  They have been experimenting with this for nearly 10 years.

Further this has no impact on anything. This is a bilateral agreement and has no relation to our trade with either or their respective trade with anyone else.  We want the yuan to become a real currency used in trade, just like many other countries currencies are.

Oh, thats so funny when a Repig does it......

Who do I blame for that 1st lie why Reagan who else cant blame Clinton for being that dumb had to be someone else.

Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., chairman of the Foreign Relations committee, welcomed the announcement Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said that during the verification period "we must keep diplomatic and economic pressure" on North Korea to meet all of its obligations, include full denuclearization. We didn't.  Said verification period began in 09.

Maybe get out of that wingnut echo chamber once and awhile.  President Bush announced Thursday that he will lift U.S. economic sanctions against North Korea — a charter member of the "axis of evil" — and remove it from the U.S. terrorism blacklist http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2008-06-26-north-korea-nuclear_N.htm
