Only idiots believe he was threatened. The proof is in black and white text, there was no threat. He even responded to the "threatening" email stating that the WH aide didn't need to apologize for his earlier remarks and then Woodward advised that he would try to call the WH aide when he was free later that day. He made no mention of the "threat" in his email response, but then he runs to the media to complain the WH is trying to intimidate him? Its nonsense.

On one hand, only Woodward can say if he felt threatened by WH email. On the other, hard to imagine feeling threatened by Gene Sperling.

Ok wow. Finally read the email to Woodward. I must now move to the "not a threat" camp.

After reading Sperling-Woodward email, it's nowhere close to a threat. Agree with @mattklewis: People who made big deal of this got played.

Vintage Woodward: Cherry-pick a friendly exchange, make it sinister & vault himself into the media. Did it with Rummy in State of Denial.

Who am I to beleive? You or my lying eyes?Woodward said he was threatened.
The threat was verbal, the email was the follow-up.
The person apologized for yelling at him: "I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. ... "That wasn't all caps in the email.
Woodward said an apology wasn't necessary.
I think you are mistaking Woodwards being magnanimous with the facts.

SOME people are incapable of speaking to the T O P I C .... and revert to attacking other Americans for voicing their opinions.
And SOME of those people REALLY didn't like it a few years ago when Woodward published three (!) books entirely about Bush's bloody miscarriage of an Iraq War.My, how times change when the "tyrannical, muslim, stalinist, socialist" guy is in charge.

Wow..I can't believe my above comment was removed! I am getting a little tired of comments being removed that are basically benign.
To paraphrase what I originally said...anyone who takes this comment as it was written in the e-mail as a threat is rather thin skinned and likely doesn't have a lot of business experience. The talk gets a lot tougher than that in the management meetings I attend.
Nevermind that most people are now saying this was overblown.

Well...actually Woodward was on Morning Joe this morning insisting that he never stated that he was or felt threatened...he stated those word belonged to the Washington Post headline..but he denied every saying them.
So..Skeeter..now who are you going to believe? The Washington Post..or Bob Woodward?

You got me. morning Joe is the foundational stone of legitimacy, so I must bow to the liberal altar of wordsmithing.
And, the list grows of people the White House..."mishandled"Woodward
Lanny Davis
Jonathan Alter
I mean, Jonathan Alter? If it was biologically possible, Alter would have Obama's baby.
Maybe threatened is a loaded word, I admit that, but, it appears Obama is, let's say, heavy handed with his own? Is that really "transparent"?
But, keep clinging to the "nothing to see here" worldview of the members of the church of Obama.

Until this morning, at least, he had all the bona fides of the loyal opposition.
And now even several Murdoch&Ailes marquees (Mr. Hume et al) are finding themselves on the wrong side vs. the real loyal opposition?
Message to the public who cares a little bit: With some marquees on one side and some on the other, regardless of their bona fides, this thing is dissolving. Too much effort to keep the scorecard current.

Keep singing Dems....
Another member of the Washington political media stepped forward Thursday to claim he was threatened by the Obama White House, shortly after the White House denied reports that an adviser threatened famed Watergate journalist Bob Woodward.
The latest claim comes from Lanny Davis, who served as counsel to former President Bill Clinton and later went on to write a column for The Washington Times. In a radio interview on WMAL
, Davis said that a "senior Obama White House official" once called his editor at the Times and said that if the paper continued to run his columns, "his reporters would lose their credentials." Davis said he "couldn't imagine why this call was made" since he's an Obama supporter.
But he called the alleged threat "unfortunate."
Lanny Davis is your standard Washington parasite hack. I am sure inserting himself into this issue with no proof of anything has nothing to do with his book that is coming out next Tuesday.
