They'll be conservative in the Red States because Education in those states is really bad, making it easier to
get them to believe in fairy tales and outright lies.

They're growing up with gay and mixed race friends, and technology is a big part of their everyday lives.  It's hard to see them migrating toward the party of 'traditional marriage' and drill, baby, drill.

It seems inconceivable that America's youth is as dumb, gullible and racist as its older, whiter generation.

But today's GOP does have some advantages:  American's short attention spans, a weak education system, and superior propaganda networks blasting across all media forms.

Meanwhile democrats are stuck with facts and logic.

Seems that it would depend greatly upon the leaders they identify with modern-day conservatism.

It's incumbent on conservatives and republicans alike to prove they have millenials' best interests at heart.  And if the dems are doing a poor job on that score, then the repubs are doing far worse, if opinion polls are any true indication.

Either way, it's not in millenials' expressed interest to be hating on the gays, immigrants, minorities, foreigners, agnostics, singles, etc.

    But anything is possible....

The article is a bit silly.  The author implies skipping over the 20s/30s "millenials" and targeting the kids who can't even vote yet...?

Historically, it also makes little sense.  In presidential elections especially, the younger the voter, the more likely they are to vote democratic.

Even if "the young will always be liberal", they won't be always be young.

In a country of 300,000,000, you're going to focus on a grand total of TEN high schools?

Cambridge, MA, has two of the best universities on the planet, so by CLC's stale pretzel logic, it should be one of the most conservative cities on earth.

Re: Why Teenagers Today May Grow Up Conservative

Kind of a flawed methodology.  The rankings are based primarily on how well the school does against other schools in the state.  So if you have a state like Texas where the schools are bad, then a good school can appear to be great compared to other schools in the state.

Once a school was deemed "good" within the state, they used College Readiness to compare school across states.  College Readiness was determined by the % of seniors that took and passed an AP class.

They did not take into consideration SAT scores.  They did not take into consideration the number of kids that went to an Ivy or military academy.

But based on this thread and the thread about climate change, I can understand how righties would question rankings or science trends they disagree with.  Since they are willing to cotton pick stats that they casts their views in a favorable light, they just assume everyone else does to.

Yes, but one of them is dedicated to science.... so there's that.

Right.  That thing some conservatives love to ignore when it suits their purpose.

Re: Why Teenagers Today May Grow Up Conservative

The #1 ranked school has 15 teachers and 240 students, 58% of whom are minority.

The #2 ranked school has less than 200 students, and only 20 seniors.

boston Latin scored as well or higher than these 2 schools but ranked 57th because not all seniors took and passed an AP class. BL has 1,500 kids in grades 9-12.  In my opinion, BL is a better school because it's educating a lot more students who are doing just as well as the the kids in the small schools.  Not bad for liberal ol boston.
