Women's Health Advocates horrified as Perry signs 'draconian' abortion bill into Law

As of today, abortions are now banned in Texas after 20 weeks of pregnancy and all but five of the abortion providers in the state officially face closure by 2014 if the law is upheld in court.

Perry remarked that the law will “cement the culture of life which Texas is built upon,” adding: “Children do deserve the respect of simple recognition before their lives are cut tragically short.” Despite his seeming confidence, leading critics of the law were quick to point out that Perry’s vision of protecting the unborn will have serious consequences for thousands of women across the state.

Right.  Because FIVE MONTHS isn't enough time to decide if you want off your child.

Geesh.  progressives are just stupid on this issue.

You don't think five months is enough time to figure out if you want an abortion? You don't think that at some point, the baby deserves the protection of the state?

As far as I'm concerned, if it has a heartbeat it's a person and it shouldn't be killed.

Before that, it should be up to BOTH parents to decide what to do. If the decison is abortion then it should be as safe and hygenic as it can be made. No more Dr. Gosnells.

These late procedures are rare, and nearly always involve a heartbreaking decision by a woman, her family, her physician and many second medical opinions that something has gone horribly wrong with the fetus that was not discovered until late in the pregnancy.

its you that is stupid on this issue, as usual.

Fundamental right to life once you pasta certain point, makes sense to me. I love how the left turns that around as an attack on woman. Attack, attack, attack is the lefts motto when they disagree.

something has gone horribly wrong with the fetus that was not discovered until late in the pregnancy.

That's a valid exception and, as you said, should be pretty rare.

That's not what happened in Philadelphia however and that why I said "No more Dr Gosnells."

Uh huh. You obviously are not paying attention.  medical necessity is an exception.

but keep trying to justify offing children.

Does this bill stimpluate that even in cases where it is medically neccesary to abort that a woman still can't have an abortion after 20 weeks?

"Women's choice" as defined by the pro-abortion zealots who run the Democratic Party:

Abortion on demand, through the 9th month, for any reason, including  partial birth abortion, paid for by taxpayers,  in unregulated facilities , by unqualified doctors

Tell me specifically how I am wrong....what limits on abortion do progressives support?

They even oppose a law prohibiting late term abortion for sex selection. In China, the State encourages killing female babies in the womb and keeping the males..talk about a "War on Women"!!

Curious how that so-called "culture of life" doesn't also extend to the state's gun laws...

...or level of healthcare coverage for its citizens...

...or the brutal 'frontier justice' on which it was formed...

...or public support for its immigrant and indigent communities...

...or its discriminatory attitudes toward gays....

...or its utter servitude toward the destructive, pollution-causing fossil fuel industry....

Except when that baby needs things like, y'know, food, decent, affordable healthcare, clean air and water, a proper education, a path to citizenship, or a loving, responsible same-sex couple to care for it, right...?

    The dissonance abounds....

    2. imo, don't want the woman to have control over things growing in her body? Don't dip your wick. Or if you do, wrap it up first.

If that's the case then the woman should take control of both the events before AND after the blessed event. If the father has no say in whether or not the baby is to be borned, he should be able to opt out of paying the bills for a decision that he had nothing to do with.

The father has to be responsible throughout the entire process or not at all. You can't have it both ways.

Culture of liberalism, is what you mean. If the baby survives the womb, it must immediately suckle the welfare state, not the parents, is what you are saying.

"...or its utter servitude toward the destructive, pollution-causing fossil fuel industry...."

Awwww....did taxpayers not give away enough billions to the Obama crony capitalists so they can utterly fail at making solar panels and windmills? ? Green energy is a big success in Europe....NOT.

Call it unintended consequences of the state meddling in the private medical affairs of the people...

...as well as the state pulling a vanishing act if OR when said child (and family) struggle beneath the weight of the state's unrealistic expectations.

Show me where the law makes even the slightest distinction over the very real economic, social or emotional concerns of the parents (much less religious).  Go ahead...I'll wait.

This is conservatives' very own version of the nanny state.  Enjoy....

Not as fast as liberal governance of Detroit burned through taxpayers wallets and the self-reliant private-sector free-market work ethic.

Another way to look at your second point is, if you want to lower unwanted pregancies, the stop making sex a fault-free exercise. Used to be that people faced consequences for their actions, which made most people more cautious.  Now, shack up, get pregnant, get an abortion, go on welfare, whatever.

    no consequences what so ever.

and, that "thing" growing in her body is called a baby. I guess it is ok to snuff out a life in order to give the woman complete control over her body.  after all, life has no consequences.

Fiscal conservatives who believe that women have a right to do what what they want with their bodies, who abide by laws, pay taxes, dont care what people do in the privacy of their homes and could care less about who marries who are losing every battle in this country......

The nation is doomed....and it's Democrats and Republicans ruining it.  I'm tired of paying for everybody else, tired of government telling eveyrbody what to do and how to run their lives and thats from the abortion dopes like Perry, the anti -gun, anti-donut crowds like Bloomberg, the anti-everything liberals et al....leave me alone, leave my wife and daughters alone, and let me keep my money.....

Stupid politicians and their idiotic tell everybody how to live their lives agendas......
