I think Syria, for all the reasons -- including ending the conversation with Mr. Assad, and changing the conversation with Mr. Khameini.

    Re: Think Iran or Syria...

    Hmm,
Not. Here is the reason. Syria has nothing of value except Iranian money. We are drying up Iranian money. There is one strong army that can destroy syria and they know it. Isreal. And they won't even bat an ethical eyelash at ruining the syrian equipment. Isreal and syria are at war right now. No new war. Hezbolla will have to suck it up and roll over. So the only important state could be destroyed in 72 hours by Irsreal. Done deal just waiting for the trigger and Assad KNOWS THIS. Iran wants this but they know they cannot go to syria with an army or even what passes for an airforce. So as usual Iran is threat and bluster. Straight of Hormuz threat is nothing that cannot be destroyed decisively in 72 hours of air attack. But the US seems to have overwhelming force availible in a 400 mile zone of Hormuz. So Iran as usual has a word game but nothing to offer on the table.

Sorry I generally expect folks to post here WHAT THEY think. Not what some other source has to say. Whats the point of just posting an article if you do not say how YOU see the point?

Sorry for not meeting expectations.  See @1 and @2 above.  Many words are unnecessary.  Mr. McCain reprises his role and script from what he was saying just weeks after visiting Mr. Khadafy, just before we supported France there.  If you are looking to debate w/r/t Syria and Iran, we may not disagree.  I think you are right that Israel will do it.  Nominally, at least.

If its Iran, Israel will start it and Americans will die...

Hundreds of Americans would die if Israel Strikes Iran

With the Israelis saying publicly that the window to prevent Iran from building a nuclear bomb is closing,  American officials see an Israeli attack on Iran within the next year as a  possibility. They have said privately that they believe that Israel would probably give the United States little or no warning should Israeli officials make the decision to strike Iranian nuclear sites.

General Mattis told aides that an Israeli first strike would be likely to have dire consequences across the region and for United States forces there.

Naturally the supporters of Israel could care less...

    real-democrat,

America's foreign policies, predicated upon warefare, deserve to be ridiculed.

Iran:  Israel on one side.  Sunni Iraq - against whom it fought its last war - on the other.  What's a country to do?

Anyway, I still suggest it's Syria, unless we and the UK find a new safe place for Mrs. Assad to reside.  To me, the central question is, does Israel cross the "border" before or after that happens.
