March Pregnancy

    Re: March Pregnancy

Depends on what you are looking for.  There were about 15 pack-n-plays and those were not moving very quickly.  The jogging strollers went quick, but the rest stuck around for a while.  Plenty of bouncy seats and bobby pillows.  I got an awesome swing early (the FP one with the seat that rotates and the mobile) but there were others that were there for a while.  Plenty of crib sheets, blankets, baby bath tubs, etc.  The gates went really quickly as did some of the bigger toys.  As with any sale like this, the more expensive the original price of the item, the faster it will probably move, pnp's probably being the most notable exception.  Also there are TONS of clothes, so its not like they are going to run out of those.  Definitely look in the bins for packages of onesies, socks, bibs, etc.

Great, thank you!  The item that I would really like to get is a Snap 'n Go for my mom to keep at her house.  She will be watching the baby one day a week so it would be nice for her to have a stroller. Also I would like to get some sort of highchair for her house.  Probably one of the "travel" ones so that she can put it away when the baby isn't over.  Everything else that we find there is just a bonus!

So I just want to throw this out there...I just almost ate a ladybug! Washed and chopped up some romaine lettuce for a tasty salad with Ken's Italian dressing...and with just about 2 bites left (of COURSE!) I noticed a brown speck...and EW.....LADYBUG! I suppose it could've been a worse bug...but...ew!! I did wash the lettuce...so I'm hoping I don't get sick or something. I feel like I need to wash my mouth with alcohol! yuck!

Cici, I hope the doc eases your worries. I'm sure the spotting is nothing, but I totally sympathize with the worry. I worried over everything in my pregnancy. Siena, congrats! I hope you are able to enjoy the good news, and I also hope the first tri ester flies by so you can relax a little! Summer, DH and I had the exact same disagreement over choosing a name. We compromised by agreeing on a #1 name but I reserved veto power if I didn't think it suited DS.

summer--I can almost guarantee you that ladybug will do you no harm whatsoever.  As my dad liked to remind me when I was a kid: do you really want to eat food that even the bugs won't touch?  ;)

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.  I'm doing my best here. Just hoping time flies.

Cici--I've got all my fingers crossed that it really is nothing.  Hang in there!  They do say spotting is really common in healthy pregnancies too.  But, obviously, I relate to your fear.

I have my echocardiogram on the baby today, and I am a little nervous. DH couldn't get out of work and this was the only time they could do it, as it should be between 20-21 weeks. Lissa, did your DH go with you? I am assuming everything will be fine because two weeks ago the doctor said her heart looked really healthy, but I know this time they are looking for abnormalities.

Half way! I really, really hope the time starts to fly!

CLC, my parents got a high chair for their house at IKEA...I think it was $25, and DD loves it...definitely prefers it to her fancy Stokke one at home!  Just another option.  It's also pretty small, which is nice for the grandparents.

Liz, sounds like things are good and they are just making sure there are no problems, not expecting any.  They are always on the lookout for abnormalities so the fact that nothing jumped out at them 2 weeks ago is a great sign.  Too bad DH couldn't go and be a comfort to you, anyway, though.

Summer - that post was hilarious, probably less funny for you considering you almost ate the little guy but still pretty funny.

Cici - good luck today.  Let us know how the appointment goes.

Liz - good luck at your echocardiogram today.  Hopefully everything will show up perfect on your little girl.  I'm jealous that you get to see your LO again.  I haven't seen ours since 18 weeks and really want another peak.

Siena, congrats!! I hope your first trimester flies by. All my fingers are crossed for a very sticky, healthy LO.

Liz, GL today! Like kar said, it sounds like you've got a healthy little one and they're just verifying that. Let us know how it goes.

Cici, GL to you too today. I'm sure it was nothing, but I'm sure seeing any kind of spotting, no matter how normal, is plenty nerve-wracking. I'm glad you were able to get in to be seen so quickly, so your nerves can be calmed.

Summer, DH and I are taking the same approach to naming our little guy. We've got a shortlist of about 3 names, which we are refusing to tell anyone, and we're waiting 'til we meet him to make a final decision. It's driving the grandparents crazy, but I'd rather not hear their input 'til it's inked on the birth certificate!

clc, about the Snap 'n Go, hopefully you'll find one this weekend - but if not, they're very plentiful on craigslist (as you may well know). I picked one up for $25 and it seems to be in great shape.

Speaking of the Snap 'n Go, I have a first-timer question. We got the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat, and I have the generic BabyTrend Snap 'n Go (a couple years old, since it's from CL). We tested it out last weekend, and while the bucket seat fits nicely in the stroller, and there's a strap to secure it, it doesn't "snap" or lock in. Just kind of rests in the stroller frame. Is that how it's supposed to work?

My only real complaint these days is moodiness. Yesterday DH and I had the tiniest argument in the morning, and I was in a horrible mood all day. When he got home, I cried (literally) buckets of tears, and he had to spend the whole night consoling me over...essentially nothing. Anyone else experiencing hormone-induced weepiness/mood swings? I have to admit, it has me a tad bit concerned about potential susceptibility for PPD. Something to watch out for, I guess.

Thanks for all the support, ladies! My appointment is later this afternoon so I'm trying to keep busy at work and not stress TOO much.

Liz - good luck at your exam! I'm sure everything will be perfect since your previous exam went so well. Sorry your DH can't make it :(

Tang I have a babytrend carseat and the babytrend sng ... and even then the carseat has to be position just right on the rail for it to actually snap.  Try wiggling it left to right a bit and see if it snaps in.  I've definitely used it without it being snaped onto the frame and it seemed fine.  But it is always better to know that it is secured.

Me. It's been terrible...I cry a lot over stupid things anyways, when I get really angry or anxious...so now it's at least a once a week occurence. Poor DH, he has to put up with me. I also am worried about PPD, especially with my history of moderate/severe anxiety and mild depression.

Also good luck Liz! Hoping all turns out well. I know how stressful it is. Just know that you are seeing a specialist and it's the best for your baby. Be sure to let us  know how it goes!

It'll be ok.  DH didn't go with me for any of our appointments for anything.  The fetal echo takes a long time because it's such a detailed picture looking at something so small that if there's much fetal wiggling it's really hard for them to get good pictures.
Expect that they will not be very definitive in their assurances.  They won't commit to telling you the kid's going to be OK unless there is a VERY specific thing they are looking for and they are EXTREMELY certain there is no issue.  With my first, it took 2.5 hours and they basically told me there were 4 chambers and things were going to hopefully be ok and they'd be there when the kid was born in case they weren't.  It was kind of a horrible feeling.  This time around I knew what to expect so it wasn't so bad. They tried to tell me no news is good news, and I guess that's true in this case, but it's still tough to not have that reassurance (especially if you have a history of getting echos on your own heart and then getting more information in an appointment right after).

    Good luck.

Lissa, my cardiologist said the same thing. They never give you a 100%, and they never said things look normal, so it can be confusing. I am glad that I know this informtation going into it, otherwise I would have been a little worried. I'm off now, but thanks for all of the advice!

Liz/Cici - I hope everything went well for you girls today!  Please keep us updated.

2 of my girlfriends have the ikea high chair.  They both love it.

So I totally felt the baby for the first time.  I felt a boom boom.  I think I have been mistaking it for my heart beat especially last night.  But today it was more of a kicking feeling.  Then I felt it again and then a rolling or butterflies sensation.  So Cool!  I am so glad because this morning in the shower I was thinking what if I have a still born baby.  I know I am a worry wart!

Pugs - yay for feeling the baby! So exciting!!!

Liz - you must be soooo relieved. Congrats on the great appointment!

My appointment was also a huge relief. Turns out that I have a small polyp causing the bleeding and is no concern unless it grows a lot. We also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was so amazing!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Re: March Pregnancy

Feeling really frustrated today.  I am 40w6d and still going strong with the pregnancy.  Mentally, I am a wreck and completely done.  I have watching, it seems like, EVERYONE deliver before me who had a due date similar to mine.  Every single day for weeks now I have assumed that this was my "last night" at home, my last shopping trip, my last load of laundry, etc.  Its my second baby, and my first one I went into labor at 40w3d.  I thought for sure I wouldn't go LATER with a 2nd pregnancy.

My midwives are completely unconcerned.  I still just have my weekly appts.  A WEEK at this point feels like a month though.  Every hour I wonder why I am not in labor.  I have been on maternity leave 2 weeks now and I have all this time but nothing to do with it but think of why I am not in labor or if this will be the day my life changes forever.  Sooooo frustrating!

Tomorrow I go in for 41 week testing- an ultrasound to check fluid levels and a NST to check the baby's reactivity.  I plan to beg for an induction while I am there.

::sigh:: just had to vent!!  I hope none of you have to go past your due date- it is hard!  Even Target erased my baby registry and congratulated me on my new arrival as soon as my due date hit.  Grr!

hugh, that sounds beyond frustrating. any truth to any of the "get labor going" wivestales out there?  spicey food?  sex?  etc.?  I've always wondered...

One would hope that Target would wait a week beyond the due date; it's not like it wouldn't count after the due date!  I'm going to write them and suggest it.

GL, and I hope your LO decides it's time any minute!

    Re: March Pregnancy

Kar, I used to think that I had some sort of control over when the baby came.  I was all like, "Well, once I hit 38 weeks maybe I'll try some stuff, and by 39 weeks I'm totally going to try it all!!" Ha.

I've been doing lotsa the s*x, brisk walks several times per day (even slight jogging, which is a sight to be seen!), tons of spicy food, pineapple, had them strip my membranes at 39 weeks and 40 weeks, tried pumping (but could only bear like 5 min of it- ouch!).

I guess I make a cozy environment for babies.

I have a question about fetal movement. I started feeling her last Sunday, and Mon-Wed she was pretty quiet, then on Thurs it felt like she moved non stop, and then since Friday she has been really quiet again. Is this normal in the beginning?

Cici, so glad everything checked out fine at your appointment!

Hugh, GL this weekend! :) Hopefully you will have a baby by Monday or Tuesday :)
