LMAO !!  I kind of missed these trolls,  they've been quite lately . Now they're just mad that Bruins made the playoffs and extra revenue.
Not going to comment on the Bruins making the playoffs as they did come around at the end of this season with a strong effort. HEY , and JJ has nothing to do with it.
All in all they did have some success because draft day will be great !

Mr. TurpikeDave, hmm you are like all the other donkeys (eyeores) who will claim exactitude in their predictions not facing the fact that 29 teams do not win the Stanley Cup each and every year.  Hmmm does that make you positively negative or only negative cause it is easier to explain?  Mr. Carr is right on the mark!

I hate to upset trolls, but the B's are not gonna get bounced in the 1st round.  They are a tough team to play and will surprise many people.  They have a great goaltender (and backup).  True- our owner is a big Jibroni, but it doesn't take away from how I support my team.  I don't know too many fans that like a team just  because of the owners.

Re:... and THE SHEEP GO CRAAAAAAZZZZZY!!!!

If everybody wakes up for the playoffs we could legitimately push ourselves through the series. Right now we are in line to play Buffalo, who we beat this week. We took Washington to OT earlier in the week. This team is starting to show signs of the 08-09 team. If Rask can keep this play up then we will most certainly be fighters and if our offense wakes up we can be a legitimate challenger. Bruce Boudreau came out and said he doesn't see any a team he would want to face that could make the playoffs.

This team has been beaten and dragged around the entire season. Granted, part of that was a result of their own doing, but they're still fighting. All of you trolls who feel superior for calling people sheep are pathetic. Be mad at the team, hate the ownership, but don't you dare call yourselves fans if you can't have faith. This team, with it's injuries and lack of compassion, is in the position to make the 6th seed. Given everything that's happened this season it speaks miles as to what the real leaders on this team have done. If Chara is healthy and Bergeron and Krejci keep up the good work we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Oh and kivvak, I don't know if these people are Sox and Pats fans but I do agree with you about the fans at those games. I believe that the Bruins fans do have the most heart and I would take a Bruins game over a Sox or Pats game any day (I'd still like to go to Pats games though, Patriot Place has one of the smartest business designs in all of professional sports, and is an absolute delight to go to).

As a big-time critic of the Bruins ownership (not the players, who can't help the fact that they're sub-par compared to other rosters), all I can say is that it's better to be in the playoffs than not. Are they one and done? Of course they are. But you have to give credit for the players they do have gutting it out and getting in when they have the worst owner in sports running the team AND an injury bug that's beyond horrific. One more thing: Patrice Bergeron deserves a medal of honor for being THE best player on a lousy team AND saving the bacon in today's game. If that puck goes in on that freak power play call the B's lose this game for sure and probably miss the playoffs b/c no way would they beat the Caps w/the post season on the line. Bergeron literally saved the season (or at least extended it for 4 games) w/that brilliant hustle/smarts play. He's been doing it ever since he joined the team and he's officially my favorite current Bruin and I wish beyond hope that he had a better team to work with. Bergy deserves a tip of the cap from every Bruins fan--even those of us who know the team is going nowhere as long as JJ runs the show.

Another poster who thinks Jacobs is to blame. C'mon, give it a rest. Check out some of the teams the Bruins have had over the last few years, especially the one that had Thornton, Samsonov, Rolston, Gonchar, Nylander, Knuble and others. It's the players that decide the outcome of the games........mostly. Not the owner, not the GM and not the coach.  Jacobs is forking out the max $$ right up to the cap, so quit blaming him, and letting the players off the hook here.

You did get one thing right though; Bergeron has been the best player on this years team.

Julienrules- you have a good point.  Fans do have to hold people accountable.  I think that many on this team have not produced and should face the music.  I also think that Julien has stood behind people way too long this season(Wides, Ryder, Wheeler).

I think they went to the second round last year dude!!  I am not expecting miracles this year.. not with 4 guys on the backend logging over 25 minutes a game each.. they will be spent.. and the two rooks just don't cut it.. so I will be pleased with a great effort that they have supplied over the last few weeks and didn't back in to the playoffs...they have a shot against Buffalo...

All things considered, I just don't know what the alternative is if you're not happy they made the playoffs.  What are  you hoping will happen on the ice?  Because I keep hearing how high picks don't matter because they'll just trade them away so JJ doesn't have to pay them.  Or that ChiaPete will make the wrong choices.  So - making the playoffs is useless to them, not making the playoffs is useless to them, pretty much any result that should give a Bruins fan hope is useless to them.

Basically, if you blame everything on JJ, you will never be pleased with Bruins results until he sells the team.  With the exception of TTBI, I think these guys would complain if the Bruins did win the Cup - because JJ would use it as an excuse to raise ticket prices and not put money back into the team and be content to line his pockets even more thoroughly right up until whatever mystical force keeps his shambling corpse shuffling around Buffalo dissipates in an explosion of green energy, taking out a third of downtown Buffalo - not that anyone would notice.  I mean, have you seen downtown Buffalo?  As long as you can still get wings at the Anchor....

Re:... and THE SHEEP GO CRAAAAAAZZZZZY!!!!

Okay, I got of topic there.  Someone asked if a one and done is 'acceptable' and that's not really the right question.  What's the other choice - accept a first round loss or...?  Unless you're a STH, 'accept' doesn't mean much.  But if the question is do you prefer they make the playoffs or drop out, I'll take playoffs.  You're talking about a team with a lot of young guys who will benefit from the experience, so even a loss is worth something, and in any year short of winning the cup, you have to see everything in the light of whether or not events bring you closer to winning it all.  More playoff experience pretty much universally helps players succeed in the playoffs.

And yeah, Bergeron's fun to watch, and a classy kid too.  Merci, Ancienne-Lorette.

Big difference between expecting accountability and being a blind jackarse.  A great example, is this constant railing of wideman.  Intelligent fans understand that he's played poorly for most of the year.  They also realize he's played much better lately.  Same for the entire team.  This year has been a disappointment overall, however, anyone with an ounce of hockey sense can see a bit of "character" emerging as of late.  Even the optimists out there are duly surprised that this team finished 6th, considering the crippling injuries sustained in the last month or so.
The REAL lemmings, sheep, pom pom wavers, and kool aid drinkers never get this stuff.  They just keep spouting the same tiresome, uniformed drivel, while mindlessly assuming they're somehow more objective than the rest of us.

I don't even know what Jeremy Jacobs looks like. I don't give a hoot if he owns the team. I don't care if he sells the team. All I care about is making the playoffs and winning. I like the team we have and the players on the ice. We are now in the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row with the best defensive team in the NHL.

We also have potential #1 pick coming up in the draft in exchange for a player who didn't even want to be here. And the same goes for next year.

I have a feeling all these jacobs haters( who I could really give  a $$hit about) are a bunch of old middle aged washed up men who can't hack it any more without their viagra. F off and watch the habs if you have a problem with the B's

I love it when other people make my point for me.

That '04 team you described WAS a great team--and only Thornton's cracked ribs in the Habs series kept them from moving on. But what did the WORST owner in pro sports do after that '04 season b4 the lockout? He couldn't blow that team up fast enough! He jettisoned nearly every great player you mentioned on that list? Why? Because he (incorrectly) assumed that the new CBA would favor greedy owners like him and he wanted to save a few bucks. We all know what the B's were left w/after that--and we're STILL trying to recover from it.

No one argued harder for a salary cap than Jacobs. Why? Because he KNEW that even if the B's spent to a cap of around $55 M, it would be a significant savings over what he would have needed to spend to bring a winner to Boston via free agency. So he got his wish and pulled the wool right over the eyes of "fans" like you who still don't see that the failure of a franchise that hasn't won a Cup in 38 years and has only gone past round 1 of the playoffs twice in eleven years starts at the top.

If you don't think JJ is to blame, you know nothing about how the business of sports works--and you pretty much proved it in your post regarding that '04 team.

You say Jacobs is greedy, yet if he was to magically build a Stanley Cup winning team, he'd make more money then ever. So are you suggesting, he's purposely trying NOT to build a successful team? And what about the 2004 team.......what did that prove from a PLAYER standpoint? At least Jacobs tried to buy a Cup.....players failed to come through.

Winning the Stanley is no easy task. You seem to think it is. Why hasn't Toronto won it since 67? How bout the Blackhawks......or most of the other teams in the league? Detroit......well, there's a team for you. Scouting, mgt., players......they've found something most teams have not been able to. They are an anomaly in the NHL.

Owners are out to make money for sure, and that's their perogative. You can choose to watch (live or otherwise) or not. However, I think your argument above is weak, if not contradicting at best.

I realize I've explained my JJ rant a million times but then I come across someone new like the guy who taled about the '04 team who obviously needs it explained to him. Sorry, but I can't let it go when I see ANYONE defending JJ ESPECIALLY when he makes reference to the PERFFECT EXAMPLE of an owner who didn't care for the Cup in the long run--only the bottom line--and broke up what could have been an amazing team for years and years b/c he didn't want to pay out the salaries it would have taken to keep the likes of Gonchar, Jumbo Joe, etc. Can you IMAGINE having that team w/Rask as your goalie now??? We'd be a #2 or 3 seed at WORST and favorites for a Cup. But no--JJ exploded any chance of that happening and now in exchange we have to feel all giddy b/c Sturm (the end result of the Thornton deal) actually scored a goal in the season finale.

Come on, B's Legion--we know each other by now--we're both Bruins fans, we both want them to win the Cup--but as you correctly pointed out, I've been a Bruins fan since the early 70's when they OWNED this town and to see what happened to them since JJ took over earns me the right to b*tch about it any time some clueless newbie comes a,long and says something as ridiculous as "the owner of the team doesn't matter--it's the players"---how can you NOT respond to that kind of idiocy??? Who chooses the GM who chooses the players???? Who tells the GM to let a guy go when he wants more money or speaks out against the emperor like Oates did in '92-'93??

In what aspect of business--whether it be sports, car manufacturing, or non-profits, does the responsibility for the failure or success of the organization NOT start at the very top???

If it doesn't outrage you that this Bruins franchise is an afterthought on the Boston sports scene going on 20 years now then you're just not paying attention.

All that being said: I am VERY proud of the players left on this skeleton squad for being where they are today. They made the playoffs and did it on guts and defense IN SPITE OF THE OWNER AND MANAGER GIVING THEM THE VERY WORST OFFENSE IN THE LEAGUE....and so, my hat's off to them

But I do not think they have any realistic shot of getting out of the first round and really, at the end of the day--isn't it just ANOTHER YEAR WITHOUT A CUP??

Doesn't that rankle you just a little bit??

The guy I railed against made yet another point in my favor--the real owners who care solely about winning a Cup are the ones you DO see in the mix every year....and don't be surprised if the Wings are there yet again--that's the owner and management bruins fans deserve--not a penny pinching Buffalonian gaziollionaire, who--yes--would make more coin if the bruins won a Cup--but is clearly more than happy to give fans mediocrity year in and year out and make up the difference on beer and hot dog sales.

You know as well as I do that's JJ's bottom line--and he's leaving the team to his idiot son, who knows even LESS about hockey, and heaven help us for the next 30 years after JJ kicks the bucket if Clueless Chuck stays at the helm.

Finally--no matter my hatred for the owner, once the puck drops on the 2010 playoffs--it's GO BRUINS! That I can't help.
