    Anyone seen Phil Kessel??

In 3 games against top Olympic competition, Canada (2) & Finland.....

    0 Goals, 0 Assists

Maybe he was brought along for his physical, 2 way play??

    Perhaps his tenacious forecheck abilities??

    That trade was a steal

lol @ "top Olympic competition" you sheep/haters are a laugh a minute. Lets not count his goal then or the fact the he had more goals then 75% of his teamates or how about him being out there in the final minute and a half in regulation in the gold medal game.

Stanley Cup is not won in the regular season...if you have 100 goals in the regular season; and can do nothing in the playoffs, or in a big game; what good are you?  You may as well go ahead and play for a team like Toronto.

all i know is that Kessel would be leading the B'S in goals even after having missed the first two months of the season....

I really wish we had a getzlaf, kesler, langenbrunner, staal, Perry, Parise, Nash...etc.. on the bruins. We need a stud offensive player.

Pile on Kessel - he deserves it. But, Bergeron was totally in over his head, if you can't make that honest evaluation= zero credibility. This guy is due 5.75 million next year..not even close -

BTW - Canada had twice the talent, and the U.S. played with twice the heart.
              Congrats to team U.S.A. -

Kessel was tied with Savard for the most goals in last year's playoffs, so can we quit with all the Kessel bashing?
He is a young man that went to the highest bidder. Any of us in his position would have done the same thing. So get over it already !

If you don't see all of the things that Bergeron does that make him worth every cent than you have no credibility. If bergeron was given more ice time he would have got more points. No power play time. You say he was over his head yet he played his role to a T.Important penalty kills made the difference today.he was solid for the whole tourney.

Alotta guys didn't make the Canadian team and are game-breakers on their NHL squads.  Bergy was picked for a role, not because he's an offensive dynamo.  Now if you want to compare him to guys like Crosby, then yes, he's way over his head.  But, for the role he was chosen for, he filled it pretty well.

Inicially i didn't think he belonged on the team, his plus/minus was terrible and he never saw ice time.  But after i realized why he was picked, it made perfect sense to me.  He's a defensive specialist and that was his role.

About the talent vs heart comparison, agreed.  Team USA was relentless and showed tremendous grit and tenacity.  But as we saw, skill and talent trumped grit and toughness and always will.  I hope Chiarelli took notes..

    Re: Anyone seen Phil Kessel??

I guess you fools dont realize that Kessel was second on the team last year with 6 Game Winning goals to Ryders 7 and Kessel is a point per game player in the playoffs and was tied for the most goals in the playoffs last year.

You revisionist history sheep and lemmings are really embarassing yourselves.

    Re: Anyone seen Phil Kessel??

1 thing that just proved to me yesterday about Kessel is all about Kessel regardless of the team he is playing on. In the 3rd period he was chasing down a puck in the corner and a Canadian D-Man had him all lined up Kessel saw him coming gave up on the puck and did a pirouette to get out off the dman's way. I don't care how many goals he has scored, the kid has no heart, no wonder why Toronto fans have already turned on him. My prediction is he is traded from Toronto by year 3 of his contract Burke wont put up with his primadona ways for very long

    Re: Anyone seen Phil Kessel??

All I can say about Kessel is the fact that he was a complete disaster out there in the gold medal game. I counted at least 4 direct turnovers/giveaways in the defensive zone. I mean 2 were so brutal if I was the coach his rearend wouldn't have gotten off that bench for the rest of the game. Can he score, yes but the liabilities are too big on defense and in heart for an elimination game. Team USA's defense was fantastic. Jack Johnson, man could the Bruins use him. What can you say about Ryan Miller? The man can play and the Sabres are gonna be tough this year in the playoffs. The Bruins will probably play them in the first round and you know what that means? "One and out".

Lets rip phil kessel for turnovers but no mention of Rafalski's turnovers that turned into two goals, or eric johnson coughing up the puck, or even ryan whitney's...No we will pick on the guy who people are angry at because he left for the highest bidder...Now if you want to blast Kessel how about the time in the third period he was right in the slot on his forehand and instead of firing his great wrist shot he goes to the backhand and gets nothing on it...By the way where was Dustin Brown I didn't see much from him all tournament and barely saw anything from Stastny...Be objective don't just rip Kessel because you know the bruins need him...

Good Post! I tried to watch Kessel alot. I see exactly why the Bruins traded him. He skates around da rink (he does not ever hit a soul) he flicks da puck here and there, he shoots da puck a bit and that's it folks! Game over, zero goals, zero assists! What a waste of a roster spot eh?

    Re: Anyone seen Phil Kessel??

singling out Kessel because the picks we got in trade could alter the face of this franchise if we draft well. He was never going to work out in Boston regardless of perceived talent. Toronto is actually a worse place for him to be. The media in that town is 100% worse than here, no other stories other than Leafs hockey. Check out what was being reported in Toronto BEFORE his Olympic no show:

"Now it's Kessel, who has seen his power-play time taken away, but is not likely to be benched since the Leafs don't have anyone to replace him, even though he has only one goal in 10 games. Kessel, who told reporters he didn't feel like talking, made a spectacular first impression when he joined the lineup in a controversial trade for two first-round picks and a second-rounder, but his play has tailed off since. He too easily loses the puck, rarely ventures into corners and too infrequently backchecks."
