    Re: Around the League

Yes Goat it is pretty depressing, but on the bright side Bruins gained a game in hand on both Montreal and the Isles :) Yes , I know they have to actually win those.. but at least they won something on a night they did not play..not a bad thing.. On a sad note, I took Ovechkin this week on my fantasy pool  and Washington pumps in 7 tonite and I find out he got SHUTOUT!! What is up with that?

    Re: Around the League

On another topic.. Good to see the Leafs lose again, 4 in a row now and looking at their schedule to Olympic break, they might not win another game, 3 games  against New Jersey, Vancouver, San Jose, Ottawa and St.Louis ..  .. Lottery pick looks better all the time for the B's.. I am reading some Leaf forums tonite and the call is already out to trade Kessel..When they got him he was the second coming of the Lord, now they find out who we thought he was.  Poor Phil..

Looked at he Leafs mins played last night and their 2 top goalscorers Hag 20G scored 2 +1 and Ponik 18G had 2 assists +2 played 15 mins and Kess played 19mins 1 assist and a -1, maybe they are working on getting us the #1 after all.

Crazy at the bottom of the standings if the Bruins could real off 2 wins (miracle) They'll be in 6th place again! Get healthy Sturm, Savard and Begin get healthy!

Kessel needs help on this team.  He doesn't create on his own.
He has 16 assists and 15 goals (more assists than goals - what is wrong with that picture).

I'm reserving judgement on Kessel overall until I see the right centerman playing with him and they use him properly.  Acquiring him at this point was a bad move by Burke.  We are no where near a playoff team and Kessel wasn't going to be the difference.

Burke is going to blow up the rest of the team after this year.
Aside from the kids they drafted this year and last (Bozak, Kadri, Hanson),the only forwards that will remain are Kessel (possibly Stajan depending on $$), Kuelmin, Gabrovoski (who's injured), Orr (only because they've already signed him) and possibly Hagman (but I think he'll be traded).  That's how bad they are up front.

On defence they are a bit better shape but still not great.
Gunnerson (good prospect), White, Beuchmin, Schenn (will be very good although having a medicore sophmore year), Kaberle (cap friendly contract - but he may wave it in the summer), Kommaserk (unfortunately unless they can find a sucker to take his contract - another bad move by Burke)

Toskala is gone and the jury is out on the Monster - Gustovasson.

We have a long, long road ahead for respectability.  Only saving grace for the Leafs would be if they increase the cap significantly so we could acquire UFAs

    Re: Around the League

Kessel is not a bad player, in a bad surrounding, his work ethic is and always has been his problem, but I wish he were still here or someone with his scoring touch. I will be happy to get Seguin though or even Hall.

Leafs have a good look for next year, they had a youth line that looked good in preseason and also rookie preseason tournament with us, that should join Leafs next season for sure.

Great mano-a-mano battle going on between Broduer and Miller. As I'm typing this our ol friend Rolston blasts one by Miller on a bad play by the Sabres. 1-1 Devils vs. Sabres.

Man break up the Lightning 3-0 over the Habs. Gotta hurt Hab fans that Quebec boys Lacavlier and St. Louis are doing it to the Canadians.

Big tilt tonight between the Hawks and Sharks NHL Network. I know it's late for hockey fans on the east coast but it's the last time they meet in the regular season this year.

    Re: Around the League

I'm very curious the outcome of the game SanJose - Chicago,  clearly the two best teams upto now in the regular season.
Will the Hawks goaltending be exposed tonite ? or
will the Sharks slow defense get exposed ?
On another note while talking to my buddy a BlackHawks , I was telling him how I think they will land Kovalchuk .  He liked the idea only if they don't have to play the Red Wings in the 1st round .
The Red Wings,  here' s a sleeping giant ,  their injured players are and will be back after the Olympic break,  Frantzen should be back end of March beginning of April and I get the feeling they'll finish on fire.
Wouldn't want to be the Black Hawks or Sharks facing the Wings.
btw look at Carolina go " they got a feelin' "  and starting to believe in making a charge for the playoffs. Winning again tonite 4-1 .

Is it me or did the Bruins play against some pretty hot teams.  Rangers when they were hot , Hawks, Sens  and Canes .

    Wacky predictions :

    - Gaborik of the Rangers will get hurt in the Olympics and Rangers don't make the playoffs

    - Leafs next week will start dumping players before the Olympic break.

    - Halak gets traded before trade deadline.

    - After Olympic break the Sens play for .200 and Sabres .300

    - Kovalchuk ....... nah not going there.

    - Oilers will finish last.

Watching Habs - Caps game,  pretty entertaining especially since it's 1-1 . Montreal hanging in tough.  So did the Bruins till Caps opened it up.
Just saw Georges get a puck to the side of the head on a slapper from Greene.
    Scary moment.
By the way how is Boychuck doing ?  Any news ?

I missed the Habs goal, but loved seeing the tying goal.

Hate the Habs but JG is a BC boy and ya dont like seeing anyone getting smoked in the head with the puck.

    Pierre Maguire is a tool.

Pierre Maguire over analyses everything.  At one point he shout out " GREAT SAVE BY PRICE "  and went on and on ... to think he's close to the ice he would see it. On the replay the puck hit the side of the net not Price.

i leave the room Habs score, walk back in sit down...Caps score.

Maguire is a huge geek, if he was a chick growin' up he would've been a puck bunny...su*k'in d*ck!!!

can ya tell I dont like him

2-2 game now and yes Maguire is pesky commentator. Hab fans were serenading Theodore when he came into the game and just made some great saves!

    Crud 3-2 Montreal....

    Re: Around the League

HABH8R ,  seems like the officials are helping out  the Habs this game for once HA ,LMAO !
They score their 3rd goal clearly offside and then take away a goal on Ovy !
Gill was in front getting ready to clear the puck from in front of Price when Ovy comes in leading shoulder first into the chest of Gill, BANG, he goes flying about three feet off of the ice into Price and the puck trickles in.
First they rule it a goal and then they take it away, no replay , nothing. These guys can't get it right in the NHL.  New rules they came up with tonite.  A must see if you can get a replay.
I think because they didn't know to whom to give it to so they just decided to remove the goal.  Good going.
    Any other wacked ideas ?

No Gaborik got hurt the other nite and Varlamov didn't start this game he's about to make his return from injury.  Neuvirth was in nets for Caps and got pulled.

5-3 now, another great comeback from Caps ?
