LOL Dawg so so true ! I know why management got rid of him now. He just does not show in big games.  Missed passes , can't stay up on his skates, cannot win a faceoff and it goes on and on....
It's really too bad the Bruins should have gotten more for him.

Quite telling that Kessler (Not Kessel) was out on ice at games end...and he made a great play to put the game away. Tough night for Toronto fans.....ayy????

I feel the same about Joe, he seems to take the wind out of any team he plays on.  Having said that, MOC & the Bruins should have gotten way more for him than they did.

re: Kessel.  This could be very bad for us. He's on what, the 4th line?  He plays best when he's personally motivated.
    witness
    gets benched against habs.
    Kessel shows up.
comes back after surgery with Leafs
    Kessel shows up.

Kessel is not used to being second fiddle, never mind 4th fiddle.  He might have gotten a good taste of that winning thing and being on a team with guys better than him might give him and his ego another perspective.

Also remember that Wilson is his coach in TO, too, so Kessel might feel like he has something to prove when he comes back.

Freaking olympics.  I rather have that first overall draft pick rather than some stupid Olympic medal.  An Olympic medal buzz will last a couple of days, a #1 overall pick for the Bruins will last for years.

One guy that really stood out was Kesler!!!  Even before that empty-netter, he was all over the ice, winning hitting everything and winning one-on-one battles...

And what exactly did Patricia Bergeron do ? That's right, nothing, our new Joe Thornton with half the talent.

He seems to be used only on the penalty kill . Coaches descision i guess . Give him Thorntons spot on the first line and see what he can do , can't be any worse than Jumbo Joe .

Patrice did what he was brought in to do: work on the PK.  Can't fault his effort-he wasn't given much time...

It was interesting to see Wilson sit Kessel.  Early in the game, Kessel lost a few pucks and failed to get a few out of the zone.  That seemed to be enough and PK rarely saw the ice.  I think he skated on the PP and that was it.  This type of game is EXACTLY why Julien did not trust PK.  He is too weak.  PK thrives on the wide-open, up and down play.  These physical games are the exact type of play where PK will be awful at...

Good thread.  The Kessel trade hurt the Bruins this season, but I think that it will become apparent as time goes on that it was in the best interest for the team in the long run.  Watching PK this season, I miss his speed and flash sometimes, but am glad that the Bruins are not bound to an overpriced long term deal with him.

Has anyone found box scores for the Olympic games that include players' time on ice?  I'd like to see Kessel's and Bergeron's TOI.

Where is our friend bruins8 ? Kessel was invisible last night and his own coach didn't want to play him. Kessel for 2 1sts and a 2nd , PC should be charged with robbery.

Re: Congrats Team U.S.A......Did Kessel play?

I only remember noticing PK when he was coughing the puck up (getting pick-pocketed by Crosby in his own zone). Never saw him again the whole game, or at least never noticed.
Kesler is an RFA after this season, Canucks are waiting till after the season to negotiate.
Bergeron time-on-ice was never going ot be big in these games, as stated, he is a PK specialist and defensive zone face-off man as he was out there for nearly every defensive face-off in the Swiss game.
Was quite suprised and encouraged by Krejci's play vs. the Russians... got nervous when he was laid out, until I realized the guy down on the ice was another Russian that Krejci fell into.

Re: Congrats Team U.S.A......Did Kessel play?

    Good direct, anacanapana.

So, funnily enough, Bergeron and The Problem had identical lines for the day: 0-0-0, -1, and 1 SOG.  The difference is that Thornton played 8:30 more than Bergeron, who only played about 5:30 total.  In that time, he was one of the only Canadians to win a few face-offs, he was a disruptive force on the PK (not his fault Morrow didn't get out to cover the other point on the fourth goal), and he worked open for a good scoring chance and one of the few uncontested Canadian shots on goal.  Not bad for a guy who is being used as a spare part.  Wonder if that'll change once Babcock goes over the film.

Kessel, meanwhile, played 2+ min. more than Bergeron and had zeroes across the board, except that -1 next to his name.

The big difference between Bergeron and the other two?  He was expected to be the 13th forward.  He's playing the role they set for him.  The Problem and Kessel are not doing what they're there to do.  Again.

    An intangible here.

Recall I'm a notorious Kessel hater...

In that post game congratulations huddle, Kessel had a smile on his face like the runners up at the beauty contests.

Note when Kessel is motivated, getting benched in the Habs series, coming back off the surgery with the Leafs, his game picks way up.

It was his own coach that was giving him less time, he's going to have that chip on his shoulder when he comes back.

I'm not worried about his chips.  I'm guessing it's a 50/50 proposition that he just shuts 'er down for the rest of the year - in a sort of "hey Wilson, you like apples?" gesture.

And even if he plays as well as he has all year, are the Leafs going to catch anyone?  I doubt it.
