How many of the fans in this forum have been "True Fans" before the 07-08 Playoffs vs. Habs??

Who is gonna admit to only being a fan after the Bruins gave Montreal a hard time in 07-08 Playoffs ?   Seems like there are a many in here.  Not gonna single anyone out but some of the comments and posts are just so funny to read..... Following the B's for many years has led me to believe that they are going in the right direction....both ways....In the office and on the ice...... From 8th place to 1st place in one season ? What the hell do you want ? The CUP will come home..... The B's are like a jigsaw puzzle right now and they are almost done fitting the pieces to complete it.......
If you are a "true" B's fan, you will never give up hope and should be pleased with this past season.....You people that are upset with this season should find another team to cheer for.   YEEEEEEEHAAAAA !!!! ..... get along little doggy all you Band Wagon fans!!!!!

    nope, sorry 40yearfan.

And don't disguise self-gratifying comments in the form of commentary on other forum users.

Most people here are great bruins fans, and if you had more than 4 posts in your 5 day history here, you probably would have realized this..

What is a "true fan"? Do you mean one of those pom pom wavers who never question the team and always pick the Bruins to win the Cup every year? One of those fans?

So to be a great fan you need to have more then 4 posts? Just because you live your life on a sports board doesnt mean you know anymore then anyone else. Get a life you condescending b00b.

pistol. You, like the OP, are pretending to know me and other users on these boards by reading 1 or two posts

I hardly believe you can make anything but knee-jerk analysis and first impressions of other users.

Sorry, but you sound like another glib newbie that won't stay long enough to actually have hockey conversations. People like you are a dime a dozen, they get on message boards, talk some trash and then leave. You project your frusterations onto people you don't even know, write a couple of sentences, then pat yourself on the back for being so worldly.

you know how i can make this analysis?

BECAUSE I'VE BEEN ON THE BOARDS LONG ENOUGH TO WITNESS IT.

Olsonic ......... I am so sorry you are offended by my post. Sorry but it is so true.....  Maybe I should have worded "True Fans" differently and said "Loyal Fans" instead......I can tell there are many loyal B's fans on this site and there are others that do not even know about what a restricted free agent and an unrestricted free agent are that are and those select people write some pretty funny posts...... I am so sorry that I have not posted as many times as you...That must make you a "Loyal fan" or you just have too much time on your hands..... Judging by how many posts you have, your hands must be very smooth and soft to the touch..... sorry I offended you  ..... you are a touchy one .....

I do not think the season was lost ....but it was very dissapointing after bringing everyones adrenaline rush to a new level almost the entire season..... You have to admit though, it was better than looking at a 35-35-12 team that misses the playoffs..... I am with you SCUBA319...I thought it was "The Year".

Nope 40year. Gardensupporter is just another person I skated circles around on the Bruins forums. He's a tad bitter that I left him high and dry when I denied his friend request.

You have been added to the long list of people that can barely write a complete sentence. Regardless, I'm happy to have you on the boards. I'm a firm believer that you don't need a high school diploma to talk about hockey. Just look at Matthew Barnaby!

    Hey 40year (whoop-de-doo, I'm a 45-year B's fan, but so what...the game's changed...A LOT...there's much to learn every year),

Did you really think this was "The Year" for the B's?   Or was that more what you hoped for?

    Hey Scuba,

How and why was it "a lost season for them not to make it to the finals"?  A "lost season"...based on WHAT?  As 40year himself pointed out, "From 8th place to 1st place in one season? What the hell do you want?"

Anyone who's watching the Finals can see the B's have a ways to go to match both teams' speed and overall skill level.   The relentless pace of the Finals dictates you've got to do it practically without thinking about it.  The B's have come a long way, but they ain't there yet.

@Garden... tough time seeing sarcasm huh. I know its hard to put things in perspective when you only read these forums if the trany section of Youporn is down. You can barely formulate a rational thought beyond something sexually oriented.

    @40year.

I'm sorry my posts made your head hurt. Maybe you could print them and read them out-loud with a special ed teacher.

Actually I have a pretty good record of on-ice accomplishments for a non-division 1 college hockey player.

Hingham high, 4 year varsity player. Captain junior and senior year. Div I. State championship my junior year. Super 8 semi finalists my senior year. I led the super 8 in scoring. Team Massachusetts junior and Senior year.

Recruited for Colby, Elmira, Curry college and NYU club. decided to go to UMass Amherst instead.

UMass club hockey. NECHA all-star junior year. led team in scoring. Captain Junior year, captain senior year. We made Nationals by the way.

Been coached by Chris Nilan, Neal Shea, Bob Roche, Mike Sullivan, aside from an amazing high school hockey coaching staff.

So you can eat my d*ck. Might not have been the good enough to play D1, but I'm happy with my resume as a hockey player.

been a bruins fan since i could walk. coming from a family where everyone played hockey. And not just played, played three teams a winter, played all year round My father was a Bruins season ticket holders back in 1990's, I remember walking down the slanted runways of the old garden, eating too much pizza and skittles and throwing up on the rides home. I saw the 1991 bruins penguins series live.

Like I said. You can't learn anything from one or two posts.

    And Another thing.

The Killers are one of the best bands of our Generation. I challenge you to find a more creative, authentic, talented band out there in an era where music is mass-produced by MTV advertisers for fan-boys and emo-queens that cut themselves. Go for it, name a few bands. Take a risk.

Name a relevant band playing at the moment that you think is better. Lets hear it.

I have been a fan since I was 7 or 8 years old and I am 40 now...  but I don't think that amounts to a hill of beans.  Whether you've been a fan for 30/40 years or just started getting excited about the Bruins, fans' opinions vary - nobody is "correct." That's what makes it so interesting.  And while I definitely agree with you that we're going in the right direction, those who think differently are entitled to their opinion - it doesn't make them less of a fan.

That said, I have to say I can't stand those who have a gloom and doom, simplistic outlook and post those inane "sheep" comments following analysis of the B's present and future. That bothers the pis* out of me because they offer no insight other than JJ owns the team, therefore we'll never win.  To those people and the few trolls on the site I say: just have a point and back it up for fuc* sake!

Re: How many of the fans in this forum have been "True Fans" before the 07-08 Playoffs vs. Habs??

I have been a fan for now in my 5th decade of B's fandom...(late 60s)...in other words, my whole life. With that said, I think the most bandwagoning I've seen comes from Red Sox fans, who thought it was stylish to put on a Sox hat, pink or green, or otherwise. I am a true Boston sports fan, but watching some of the putrid hockey seen under Dave Lewis was some of the most depressing, humiliating brand of B's hockey I've ever witnessed. While it's true that many fans jumped back aboard during the '07-08 Habs series, I think I got to give a lot of fans free passes for either letting the B's go for several years, or just giving up on them altogether. They were a horrible product from the point of the lockout until last year. My continuing to follow them in that stretch only makes me a masochist. I am thrilled they are back to being a quality franchise.

    such sub-par trash talking.

YouPorn is a free pornographic video sharing website, similar in concept, but unrelated to YouTube. Since starting in August 2006, it has become the most popular pornographic website and the 47th most popular website overall as of March 2009.[1] In November 2007, it was reported to be the largest free pornographic website on the Internet.[2]

Don't tell me you're gonna bash me for that too, cause I have bad news for you. You're outnumbered.

I'm a Bruins fan through and through for as long as I can remember. Born in Waltham in '62 and raised in MA and NH. Loved the old Garden and all it's "faults". My love for the B's never weakens. Even though I live in MI now and it's all Redwings here I can't get as passionate about them as I am for the B's. I was crushed after the loss to the Hurricanes. Last night after losing the Cup to Pittsburgh I was "Oh well, that's too bad". Now my wife on the other hand ... She's as much a Wings fan as I am a B's fan so I had to do a lot of comforting!  LOL

Bottom line for me is I support and follow the B's win or lose. They're my team and nothing will ever change that!

    Q: How many...??

A: Just count the number of people who don't have the knee jerk reaction to post messages about the team's 'doom' every time they lose. I'd do the count but I'm afraid I don't care.

Of course, being young shouldn't disqualify anyone from feeling they 'belong' in the class of TRUE Bruins fans. Whatever you meant by that, your criterion is sort of juvenile, ironically.

I post this in defense of the people you call 'band wagon fans'. But if you like, you can formulate a set of necessary and sufficient criteria and start an international TRUE-BRUIN fan association!

    lol

    This ain't Mensa, dude.
