Ripping players by giving them derogatory nicknames is an old sports tradition. It can be relatively benign - "Pie" MacKenzie, Grapes - or it can aim to get under someone's skin a la Jim Rome calling Jim Everett "Chris" (still funny). I admit to a fondness for this game, whether it's mocking Joe Thornton's post-trade interview statements about guessing he was "The Problem" in Boston or questioning someone's cojos by calling them girls' names like Phyllis.
So, to kill time until the announcement that the arbitrator, one JWensink, has awarded Wheeler the NHL minimum and a smack in the face...got any good, creative nicknames for players you don't like? For example: depending on the results of this hearing and the coming season, I'm prepared to call Wheeler "Proud Mary."

fancy feet = lawrence maroney.
Because after he gets a hand-off, he tends to move his feet without moving forward for a good 3 seconds (kind of like the road runner in those cartoons). -

Whether you consider him ugly or not, it is hard to deny that Rask does resemble the Grinch. The shape of his face and his eyebrows are what does it.
I think it's a pretty funny nickname. -

Because Rask is the type of guy women would find attractive and men wouldn't. Every female hockey fan I know thinks Rask is adorable.
Smoldering eyes, cheekbones to die for, fantastic, crooked smile. A little on the skinny side, but that just adds to his appeal. Men don't get that, and you're obviously a man. -

Blake Wheeler is a future star power forward, the Bruins are lucky to have him. He's just learning how to play at the NHL level...first year he just "hit the wall" and although he's in his early 20's , it was a stamina issue. Second year -"sophmore slump" even tough he "added 15 lbs of muscle" in the gym. This year watch out as he will continue to evolve and learn from the likes of "rex" and "bergy". This guy is like 6'5" tall, and can do some pretty fancy stick-handling on the shoot-outs. I say give him in the neighborhood of Ryder and Bergy dollars - which is about 5 million per for like 7 years...lock him up now. Colton Orr would be happy to see Wheeler shipped out of the east, you know he doesn't want have to lock horns with him again.
Also if you haven't noticed ..... Wheeler is the type of guy women would find attractive and men wouldn't. Every female hockey fan I know thinks Wheeler is adorable.
