No leadership...

    No leadership...

    ... and it shows.

    Too many nights off.

    Nobody held accountable.

The Big Guy never says much, if at all, in his mumbling english.

Sturm is no leader. His 'A' is based on being one of the longest-serving Bruins.

Wardo is gone with his 3 Cups worth of experience. Yelle is gone with his 2.

Recchi is alone, but not like he was ever a great motivator. He has an 'A' based on his old age.

This team needs a Scott Stevens-esque intense player in the room to lead.

    This team has no voice.

Julien can only motivate them so much.

Someone in the room needs to step up and grab the reins.

    Anybody?

    Mark Stuart should step forward.

Hunwick should watch a couple from the pressbox - too many easy mistakes.

Don't really agree about a lot.  Chara is and has been leading.  Are you guys suggesting there is no leadership during losing stretches?

Recchi has been playing inspired hockey even though he hasn't had big results.  Stuart is rock-solid but had one bad game.

Guys need to step up and play better hockey.  Don't think better leadership will help, better talent would!

Sorry Skas but your wrong here!
Yes we are lacking some leadership on the ice so far, however, you must have missed the award ceremony last year when Chara won the norris. BEST SPEECH OF THE NIGHT!  Very well spoken and a great motivational touch.  This guy is the real deal and can be a great leader.  What we all must understand is when we win games 3-1 and Chara hasnt been all over the game sheet, you can bet he has quietly had a major impact on that game.  He stops plays before they even get started.  Hes never going to be a flashy guy who dominates a game offensively
and the Bruins Brass know this. Having said all that he is the biggest presence in the game today when he is playing physical and in your face hockey.  This is the area of his game that has been lacking so far.  May be hurting, youd never know hes tough as nails!

    "No leadership..."

So you talked to all the Bruins individually and asked them?

    Re: No leadership...

If you're not in that dressing room, you have absolutely no idea.

I'll take the word of Shawn Thornton, who, asked a couple of weeks ago about Chara, without hesitation called him the "greatest captain ever."

Chara leads by example, Thornton said, but he also added that when he speaks, everybody listens. But leadership doesn't manifest itself in exhorting and speeches. It manifests itself in staying to lift extra weights after practice, in working with the youngsters, in skating extra shifts, in playing hurt, in not complaining.

Recchi is a respected veteran, but he doesn't wear the "A" - Patrice Bergeron and Marco Sturm do. Both are also the quiet, lead-by-example type. but David Krejci is a leader for coming back early from surgery. Marc Savard is a leader for playing hard with a bad injury. Milan Lucic is a leader for protecting his teammates. There is a LOT of leadership on this team, but it all starts at the top with the guy everyone looks up to (in more ways than one) and other teams fear - Zdeno Chara.
