    Official Bruins-Fan Position on PK

Please cite this thread whenever someone brings up the Kessel trade, instead of constantly responding and thereby bringing the Kessel threads to the top of the conversation. Once this thread is cited, please do not continue to respond to the poster who has brought up Phil Kessel. To provide more specificity in your post, feel free to include a citation to the specific clause, listed below, that addresses the poster's concern.

For example, BFP, Clause 3. (BFP= Bruins' fan position).

    --------------------------------------
All parties agree that this thread is meant to supplement, not replace or alter, the threat titled "Yeah, that's It. I'm done w/PK".

This agreement is final. No subsequent posts will be considered an addendum to this agreement.

Bruins fans represent and will not deny:

    1) Fans of the Boston Bruins are happy with the way the trade worked out for the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.

    2) Phil Kessel (hereafter "Kessel", "PK", or "Phil") is an excellent talent in the NHL.

    3) Any team with a PK talent will be better than the same team without a PK talent.

4)Phil Kessel has the talent to score 40 goals/season consistently and even hit 50 goals in a season.

    5) Phil Kessel posseses a unique skill set even among top NHL players.

    6) The relationship between Phil Kessel and the Boston Bruins was not one that was going to prove beneficial for either side.

    7) Bruins fans appreciate what Kessel did for this franchise and wish him, the Maple Leafs, and all the fans of PK and the TML the best of luck.

    8) Bruins fans are optimistic that Tyler Seguin, acquired via Toronto's first round pick in 2010, will be an impact player in the NHL.

    9) Bruins fans understand that Phil Kessel trade was for two 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick. In other words, this trade was not Phil Kessel for Tyler Seguin. Nor was it a trade for Tyler Seguin, Jared Knight, and another 1st. The trade, as stated above, was Phil Kessel for two 1st round picks and a 2nd rounder.

    10) Bruins fans understand that Tyler Seguin will require time to match the statistical output of Kessel.

    11) Bruins fans are confident they will win the Stanley Cup before the Toronto Maple Leafs, with or without PK.

    14) The Bruins probably would not have pursued Horton as vigorously as they did if they still had PK. They had extra draft picks they could trade, as a result of picks they acquired from Toronto.

In Response to Re: Official Bruins-Fan Position on PK:
Claude Julien is directly responsible for the trade of Phil Kessel. Claude's system is not one which allows for offensive creativity. Beware of this young Mr Tyler Seguin.. Phil had mono & cancer. He was run out of town by idiots like KPDupont ( who , now predicts a BIG season from Phil Kessel)..and he was blackballed by Julien. PC had to trade Phil because he cannot get a second mulligan from ownership if he fired Julien because of his boring defensive system which the players 'go along with' but do not like! Here are the facts: 1. Pure goal scorers with tremendous speed do NOT grow on trees! The Bruins' had one and had no idea what to do with him.. 2. This WILL come back to haunt the Bruins- not just because Phil WILL score 30-50 goals a year during his prime (another 10 years easily)...but also because the return from the trade is not going to be anywhere as great as some idiot fans believe it will be. Seguin may turn out to be very good- but, always remember this - Chiarelli backed into being able to draft him ..its not like he was a crafty trading partner - he LUCKED out!! 3. The Bruins have always lacked that one super fast pure sniper , they had him and he is now gone..watch out - something tells me that we will see that Phil should have been part of the core of this team - not players like Lucic (grossly overrated)!

Why do some people insist on re-hashing events that were not in any of our control?
I also enjoy how you managed to contradict yourself in the same sentence.
First you say we were idiots for thinking the bruins got a good return in the trade, and then go on to say they "lucked out" in getting such a good return
Also, what many fail to understand, is, Toronto traded the 3 picks for 5 years of Kessel, not the rest of his career.
4 years from now, Kessel can go to any team he wants. Maybe he will be back with the bruins, patroling Seguin's right side.
Also, people that talk in absolutes, are pathetic. You say PK WILL score 30-50 goals a year for the next 10 years. You proclaim this like it is inevitable, but in reality, he could be injured badly in his next game and never play again.
You have no clue what the future will bring.

Lucic is a decent player. He's not a franchise player. He's not the player that should be on the "untouchable for trade" list. He makes a lot of money for a player who has never scored more than 17 goals/42 points in a seasnon. He is not the next Cam Neely.

I think he is the most overrated player on the Bruins. Thats not saying he's a bad player, I just think he not as good as everyone thinks he is.

As for Kessel, here is my opiniion on it. He is a very talented young player. I wish he was still on the Bruins, however I don't start 3-5 threads a day about him like bruins8. I don't dwell on it, I have moved on. I wish phil the best in toronto, except when he plays Boston. There is no way to tell who won the trade, at least not now. That won't be determined for another 5 years when Seguin, Knight, and the 11' first roundr have developed fully. Until then, Seguin is a Bruin and Phil is a leaf/
