PC's next few days... including TT

Look - let's all be clear about TT being traded and stop the fantasy trade scenarios. He will NOT be traded unless a player with a LARGE contract comes back. Read that sentence again and make it your own. There is no team in the NHL NOW who will take on a extra $5 mil cap hit for this year (never mind the rest of his contract). So we will get a high priced someone back. PC's job is to maximize assets, but in the real world.

So, what do the Bruins need?

    1.  quality wingers - at least two (with Sturm out indefinitely)
    2.  a puck-moving D-man
    3.  a backup G

The D should be able to be shored up with a FA. Foster might be the best $$/return available. Volchenkov and Paul Martin will be out of the B's price range. Expect and settle for second tier here.

A big $$ winger and a backup G could come in the trade for TT. I personally have no problem with a Simon Gagne and Boucher trade for TT and pieces (picks?) trade. Gagne is a tough, two-way winger and Boucher an adequate backup G. The best part of this trade is that while Gagne's contract is large, it is in its last year - he comes off the books completely (at a + $5 mil cap hit, I believe) next summer.

So, IMO, PC should be looking for a winger/goalie trade for TT. Philly looks good to me, and maybe San Jose...

Would love to see PC sign Foster.  Another bargain on a puck moving defensemen could be Carlo Colaiacovo.  Yes, he is injury prone and not very good in his own end, but has a ton of upside offensively for the price.  Pair him with a solid stay at home defensmen like Stuart and that should neutralize Colaiacovo's mediocre defensive play.  Would be a pretty decent upgrade over Hunwick for the same price, if not cheaper.

What do you think it'd take (money wise) to get Foster?

Biron, Nittymake and Auld all signed elsewhere. Who for backup if TT moves?

Who's left from the NHL-ready list of usual suspects?

Marty Turco? Jose Theodore? Johan Hedburg? Patrick Lalime?

Remember though, most of these guys are tanned, rested, and ready for a reason. With luck, they'd only play about 15-20 games next year.

Yeah, Carlo C works for me too. How about Kim Johnsson from CHI? A UFA that might just be someone the Blackhawks would like to keep but can't afford to.

so much for Kurtis Foster.  He signed with Edmonton.  2 year deal at 1.8 per year.

Can Boston go into next season without making another trade?
They have 5.1M to sign 3 remaining players. (WHEELER 2M) (STUART 2M)
    (CAMPBELL 1.1M).
Keeping Sobotka with his 750,000 cap hit, instead of Campbell, would have made this possible, but that scenario no longer exists.
If they can sign the 3 for 5.1M, does this mean they are willing to return Seguin back to Junior, for another year?
That would be another year of no tangible return on the ice, for Kessel.
I don't think the Bruins' brass have the intestinal fortitude, for such a move.
Not signing Campbell, and slotting Seguin (900,000) as 4th line center, should allow enough money left to sign Wheeler & Stuart.
I am just trying to figure out Chiarelli's options, if he is unable to move a contract.

Pominville?  Huh?  He's signed for the next four years at a cap hit of $5.3M and scores the same amount of goals as Ryder.

    Insanity!
