    Playoffs : Home ice advantage?

So far 12 games played . 6 wins apiece for the home team and road team. Sometimes it's better to play on the road because of playing a simpler game and less pressure to please fans. Would be interesting to know what the stats are for the regular season on this topic ? Anybody know where they could be found ?

also, top 2 seeds in both conferences record in game 1 = 0-4

good matchups this year, all series should all go at least 5 games

Home ice advantage dissapeared the day they decided that all the rink had to be built the same size.  They have to go back to customized rinks if they want to see home ice mean something again.
They should give a maximum and a minimum size and the team should be free to choose.  For an example the Flyers would probably play in a smaller rink because they are a big team.  The Habs would choose the biggest size possible because they are small but like to skate.  That is what i call real home ice advantage!!

Interesting thought lucaooo. I like that idea . Then teams could shape their team around the size of the rink . Chicago Stadium , Buffalo Auditorium , Boston Garden and others all made it a different game to play because of the size of their ice and their different quirks. Anybody remember the Corral where Calgary started playing before they built the Saddledome. The boards were higher than normal and made the players look smaller. Or how about the WHA's Minnesota Fighting Saints , they had boards where you could see right through to the fans feet in the front row. The clip below shows some footage of that rink . What a weird look. Today's rinks are all like carbon copies of each other.

Here's a clip of the Flames playing in the Corral. The boards are up to their shoulders.
