    T Rask!

Hey Rask welcome to the wonderful world of
John Blue, Blain Lacher, Jim Carrey, Byron Dafoe etc etc etc

Just another useless goalie, thanks for the memories!

    Re: T Rask!

    A goalie needs some help....

The two of you are speaking like people who have never been on a hockey rink- Figures!

No one lceared his way for the shots so that he could make them.  Several times tonight he was bum-rushed into the net because his wimpy defensemen didn't grow some sack and put their feet down.  Virtually every rebound he gave up ended up in the net because his defenders didn't do their job.

It is your goalies job to make the easy saves, occasionally stand on his head and make a super save.....  but it is the defense's job to keep him from being SWARMED..... and they did not do that for the last 4 games.

Look at Leighton's stats for Game 6.....  now look at the flyer's stats for game 6....  he team BLOCKED 30 SHOTS in front of leighton..... HMMMM? Look at it yourself.... it is in the stat sheet.

Our team did not play like a team once they lost two stars.... they played like kids who were hoping not to lose..... or better yet. like you would..... thinking that they would get a trophy just for participating!

God forbid that a defenseman clears the way and knocks some heads off...naaaah, it's all the goalie.

Tuukka did not impress tonite, I hope he doesn't become another on a long list of rookie season flashes in the pan...he definitely made no big stops tonite and what's with him and briere????  The guy could score from a center ice dump-in on him.  Keep Timmay around...bruins depression is setting in, could be a long summah

You can blame rask. First goal was a deflection. 2nd goal was after a rebound from an unexpected backhanded shot , 3rd goal deflection and 4th was from a power play goal where gagne got lucky.

For me the blame goes on the bruins defensemens.

    Re: T Rask!

But the FIRST goal came off one of his defensement, and ended up that he truly was slightly off-time due to how close the play was to his crease.....

I am not ready annoint him, but I understand the trevails of playing that position.

Once that puck went from 40 MPS (off his defensement) to only 25 MPH then it meant his leg was no longer in the perfect position to stop the shot at the time the two made contact. (The speeds are nothing but an example).

It is too bad that so many of you "FANS?" are looking to blame the people who got you through the best coaltender in hockey and onto a second round.  Any of you work for the government?  You sure seem to have counted your wins before they were in your hands.. You spolied brats!
On any given night, any puck can bounce this way and that and change the game.  Two of the flyers pucks went in off B's tonight, changing the strength and angle of the puck......

GO AHEAD BLAME ANYONE YOU DESIRE..... but the only one to truly blame for your depression is yourself.... when they went up 1-0 YOU ignored the FACT they had lost their best scorer, and fasted player- along with one of their best PK's.  When they went up 3-0 YOU ignored the FACT that they had just lost their best centerman for the rest of the year.  Again, one of their best players, and an important defensive forward, and PK.....YOU ignored the FACT that this team limped into the playoffs with two of their best defensement injured (though one came back).  YOU ignored that Simon Gagne returned.....  YOU ignored everything except that 3-0, and now you want to harm yourselves?  REALLY?

Well they do say that ignorance is bbliss.....

    Re: T Rask!

You're waaaaaay off base comparing Rask to the likes of Lacher et al.

Tuukka is one helluva talented goalkeeper and his potential is outstanding. He needs to experience the ups and downs of the game in order to continue his development. These playoff games were extremely valuable in assessing what he needs to be focusing on for next season. Like it or not he's the future here, not Tim Thomas. Thomas had a great run and still has some air in the tires. But the time has come to let Rask play. He had the weight of the Bruins faithful on his shoulders and that is one helluva cross to bear. Tuukka has done a fine job and will continue to get better as he develops further. This kid is going to be an amazing goalkeeper in a year or two. There is a learning curve that comes along with each level of hockey you advance to. Tuukka is going through that now. He will be better for experiencing this debacle.

Rask was awful tonight. Fighting the puck, rebounds and playing really deep in the crease. He looked sluggish moving from side to side the first 3 goals should have been stopped by any #1 goalie. I guess TT will get another shot next year.

You hit the nail on the head. The defense infront of Rask was terrible. They also clearly changed from a hard charging attack to a fallback position. Was stunned to see them come out like they did in the first period after 3 dudes in a row , and then fall right back into the same pattern of mediocrity. And they stopped hitting, never mind no fights. In the end there was no fight in the team! I can only say it was the coaching.

Raskcroft is not that good. He's very mechanical, and does not compensate for his weaknesses. He got litup this series and in one game last because the Flyers and Sabres know how to beat him.

Not every time, but this is a valid point.

And the people pointing out the weak defense . . .  letting the Flyers hang around the net . . .  those people are correct too. The Bruins simply weren't deep enough to overcome key injuries and soft goals. They went farther in the tournament than anyone had a right to expect, but they're not going to get any run for that, because they blew a huge cushion in games and then blew a huge cushion on their own sheet in game seven. It all points to a lack of heart, and whether you deserve it or not, when you crack that hard, you are a laughingstock and you just have to stand there and take it.

    Re: T Rask!

Name a Bruin goalie who hasn't been outplayed by his opponent in a big series going back to even the Cup years. Never seen a team that always sees the other team's goalie outplay their own. Doesn't matter who is in goal for B's, they never seem to make the big save or keep the team alive or make that amazing save to keep the team from losing. Ranford did that for Oilers (not for B's) Dryden for Habs, Penney for Habs, Theodore for Habs, Parent for Flyers, Hasek for Sabres, and so on and so on and so on.....Pa-thet-ic...I know he's a rookie, but what a grand start, a goalie who was the losing goalie in only the third time in NHL history a team lost 4 straight after winning 3 straight...Makes you yearn for Reggie Lemelin.

Exactly, if they lost this series in 5 or 6 games we would all think what a good run after the brutal regular season. There is no excuse for what happened tonight and don't want to hear the injury crap everyone is injured this time of year.

Julien mis-managed his goalies all year. Some how he needed to get Rask a breather and he failed. Game 4 in Philly would have been a great time for TT to play but Julien went with Rask. Rask did not impress me in 4 of the 7 against Philly but he was excellent against Buffalo. He needed a break and CJ had his head up his azz like usual.

    Re: T Rask!

If you guys blame Rask you don't know much about hockey.  Rask is the reason why we made it in the playoffs.  He also won his first round match up vs the best goalie in the league Miller.  He also won his first 2 overtime games.

Do i think he could have been better vs the Flyers yes.  Was he outplayed by the Flyers goalie...no!  Therefore he is not the reason why we lost.  The Flyers got all the bounces starting in game 4.  Therefore it was just meant to be for them and not for us.

Let's leave it at this for a few days and then let's try to find some positive and move on!
