    Thornton enough is enough

He played 6:27min tonight why not give a chance to a young talented player 6'3'' best offensive player for Providence 2 years in a row ...could score goals , physical ...such an easy decision to make ...bring him in ....we lost Krejci and its not Thornton that will replace him ....please just give the kid one game and he will prove you right I predict a goal in his first game even if he only plays 6:27mins like Thornton

Stanley Cup to the BRUINS in 2011

Who are you talking about?  Lehtonnen?  If yes I agree 100%...When Thornton's on the ice they get pinned in the defensive zone.  I saw Lehtonnen play a couple of times and he was impressive scored a couple of goals.

    Re: Thornton enough is enough

Think of Thornton as a weapon in an arms race.  He is probably in the best shape to fight of any Bruin with skill in that department.  Chara's hand and nose are wrecked.  Stuart is just back from complications stemming from a fight.  There's no way he can fight with that hand.  Looch screwed his hand up pretty bad from fighting this season, and his nose is still messed up from the last time it got broken in a fight.

That pretty much leaves Thornton and Boychuk for guys left who can fight.  Boychuk has been too valuable to sit for five minutes if the Flyers decide it's time to goon it up.

I agree with this point, the series is physical but not fighting physical, dress one of our promising young guys, we need a little more finesse with Sturm and Krejci out.

I agree that there is no use for Thornton in the line up!

    Re: Thornton enough is enough

Are you people kidding?  Any of these guys can "fight"....you grapple up an throw a few punches...if your that bad of a fighter you just wrap the guy up.

You play to have more goals at the end of that game. Thats what determines who advances.

Thornton is terrible at hockey. He doesn't even hit anyone. The only play he makes is "high and off the glass" in his own zone and he makes that happen about 50% of the time.

    Hes a joke.

If Thornton does not finish his checks and does not fight what he is good for?  We have enough grinders on this team.  I say give a try to the other guys practicing with the team.  I am not a fan of Withfield either!

Marchand should get the call......Twitfield is nothing better than a journey man in the twilight of his career. If Marchand is in the Bruins future plans than he should be getting the experience not a guy who likely won't even make Providence next year...Some times it is hard to rationalize the thinking of whose making the decisions....must be the same guy who gave Ference a raise and 3 year contract...without a doubt the worst D man...1 point and -7 in the playoffs!

    Re: Thornton enough is enough

i am not a fan of thornton, but i'm also understanding of wanting to have some physical presence especially on 4th line. These team is down so many forwards that there isn't much out there. The alternatives are not much and the fact is that it's 7 to 8 min of play. I don't see the harm of Shawn, who has experience and a cup under his belt, over a Marchand. I'll say this once, and a thousand times on this subject, if Marchand was as good as half of you yahoos think he was/is, he'd be on the team. But he's not, and that's a fact. Bergeron was 18 and playing in the NHL with guys like Thornton, Knuble, Guerin. Some guys are great players off the bat, others take a long time to develop--case in point Sobotka, who finally is good enough to take a regular shift in NHL. But he had to work on becoming a checking forward, and he's got offensive skills. Paille turned into a penalty killing specialist, despite at one time being thought of as a potential scorer and a high draft pick. Marchand? If he's so good, he'd be ahead of Whitfield or ahead of Thornton. He's not, so enough.

Whitfield is useless. I have to admit I don't know much about Lehtonnen, but I'm hearing some nice things about him on these boards. Can't be worse than Shitfield. Give Miko a try.
