    Wow...That wasn't expected...New Lines

When I checked the glob this afternoon Savard being out for 4-6 weeks was not exactly what I expected to find.  Looks like this is going to be a rough start, but with that said its time for the B's fans to step up the support.   Here are my thoughts on the what new lines could be...

    Sturm-Bergeron-Ryder
    Bitz-Krejci-Wheeler......I'd rather see Sabotka-Krejci-Wheeler..
    Rechi-Sabotka-Marchand
    Paile-Begin-Thorton

Who knows maybe Hunwick will be up with the Forwards again soon..this is getting scary

Now we have an excuse when we lose...no Savard, Lucic, etc...

If anything, being competetive over this injury time for Luc and Savvie is what will be tested and hold the future for some of these call ups..
This team is forced to play more defensive now and hope for a competive offense

When I read about that pick up last night from the Sabers I was confused about what Chiarelli was doing.  I thought maybe he was back up and maybe a PK specialist.  Now it seems clear the B's are in a rough spot with a shrunken bench.  I have to say with all of this going on he really did alright moving Chuck.

Nah, injuries are never an excuse.  That's just expecting to lose.

Anyway, remember that Krejci made the permanent leap to the NHL in large part due to the way he filled in for Savard two years ago.  And that year, he was the definition of a slow starter - Johnny 0-fer for months.  That's what they mean by opportunity for young guys.  No reason to expect either Marchand or Sobotka to repeat Krejci's success, but no reason to say it will never happen either.  Best you can say is that the chance is there for someone to sieze.

    I'd like to see:
    Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
    Sturm-Bergeron-Marchand
    Recchi-Sobotka-Paille
    Lefebvre-Begin-Bitz

Re-unite that top trio from last year.  Re-unite Bergy and Sturm, and see if Bergy can find the chemistry with Marchand that they had in the preseason.  Sobotka and Paille will forecheck hard and let Recchi be 3rd man high, and the energy line is about the same as usual.

First alternative - or first change if things aren't working - is to switch Recchi and Marchand to see if he and Sobotka can bring some AHL familiarity up.

    Re: Wow...That wasn't expected...New Lines

Fluto's guess below There will definitely be some shuffling. Sobotka will/should be thrown on 2 different lines to see what will mesh. The 1st and 4th line on Fluto's assumption are the ones that I don't think will be messed with.

Marco Sturm Patrice Bergeron Michael Ryder
Vladimir Sobotka David Krejci Blake Wheeler
Daniel Paille Trent Whitfield Mark Recchi
Brad Marchand Steve Begin Byron Bitz

No Wideman is not playing tonight thank goodness. He needs to watch Boychuk and learn!

What I would love to see

Wheeler- Krejci- Ryder (Could have been the best line in hockey last year)
Sturm- Bergeron- Marchand (Bergeron had great chemistry with both in the past)
Recchi- Hamil- Vlad (It worked with Krejci, Looch and Wheeler. Let the kid play)
Paille- Begin- Bitz (Still a great checking line. Paille is like Axelsson but he hits)

It's gut check time now. No more lets shoot for 100 points again. Lets go on ridiculous stretches again. Lets finish on top of Washington and Pittsburgh. Now it's back where it should be. Low expectations. This team has to fight and scratch it's way to the top. We have our backs against the wall, now lets go play some Big Bad Bruin hockey. Let's go make our opponents work for it. Let's go make the Garden the hardest place to play in. Let's show the world what we are capable of. Let's gooooo Brruuiinnssssss!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Wow...That wasn't expected...New Lines

I think bookboy hit the lines perfectly.....but one thing to consider is Hamill. The Bruins lose a skill center, call up a skill center. I think Paille should get a chance on the third line, this is a guy who can score, but desperately needed a change in scenery. I would seriously consider putting him with Recchi and Hamill, and seeing what happens. Definitey think bergeron sturm and marchand should be a line

Chances for other players to rise up and show us if they have ... or not. Other players are: Bergeron, Sturm, Recchi, Krejci, Ryder... and a good opportunity for young kids like Marchand and Hamill. The way the B's played lately, I don't think it's that negative to see new blood in the team

Don't forget tyhat injuries are apart of reality. WE have to deal with them and can't use it as an excuse

BTY I was at Bell centre yesterday watching struggling habs beating Trashers in SO. I watched carefully Kovalchuk and he looked like a guy who didn't want to play yesterday. If I would have been a Bruins scout, I would have got reserves about Kovi
