Exactly, soups.  And given the Simmonds didn't go until the end of the second round, and Perron was a huge question-mark because of attitude/maturity issues (which seem to persist and flare up with him from time to time), either player would have been a huge gamble at #8.

Also I doubt that 80% of our current roster could muster up 5 points in one game for the Providence B's. Bring Up Hamill now. Lets see what this kid is made of. These people who want to stick him in the minors another year are incorrect

    Re: Zach Hamill

I'm not sure if Hamill will be a bust, but the odds aren't good for him. His style of play is purely a playmaker, not a sniper or grinder, so his potential is either top 6 or bust. It is true, we do have an abundance of playmakers and talented centers either with the team now (Savard, Bergeron and Krejci) and in other prospects in the wings (Colborne mostly and the potential playmakers that could be chosen with our higher picks).
Hamill may be improving recently, but he still has a lot to prove. Chiarelli made a big statement on Hamill's progression earlier in the season when he said he wasn't going to promote anybody who didn't deserve a promotion. That sound bit came when we had two of the three top centers out with injuries. If Chiarelli didn't see Hamill worth a promotion at that point then it doesn't spell a lot of confidence, or maybe it was an effort to light a fire under Hamill.

As for the trade value he could have some, but I don't see it having a lot come draft time unless he lights up for the remainder of the season and in the playoffs. For Hamill to look good enough in the AHL he has to put up Logan Coture type numbers (47 points in 35 games). Coture was San Jose's first rounder in the 07 draft (the pick right after Hamill).

Don't expect them to move Hamill just yet though, they don't stand to gain anything big enough to move a prospect with a high ceiling but low trade value.

yeah bookboy a top 6 would probably be stretching it but dont think a top 10 is out of the question.....thinking atlanta could go for 3 bodies for 1 & they,ll be in the top 10....bruins lets say picking 16th,atlanta 8th a 2nd rder & hamill to switch is pretty attractive package

If Hammil is traded and becomes a star on another team. The bruins will once again be idiot for trading away top ten talent. LET THE KID PLAY

But your talking, a first, a second and hamill at this point? not Hamill and a second, depending on who atlanta likes you might be able to move 5-8 slots with like a first and second/third etc..

    Re: Zach Hamill

Just a side note on Hamill's sudden uptick in production - John Lammers, his linemate that the guy with the Hat Trick in Hamill's big game on Friday?  Played in Everett as an overager when Hamill was in his second year.  I wonder if there's some value in a familiar face helping him get comfortable and reminding him that yeah, he was a wonderkid back in the day.
