Well if it's another concussion, we need to consider a rental... Savvy will have zero trade value at that point.

It would be a mistake to take Campbell out if his natural position he is on fire as a center right now. Seguin could indeed center Wheeler and Ryder not a problem. Maybe Caron could come up and play a little as well with Bergeron again.

Did anyone else notice that it looked like Savard needed the towel to hide the fact that he was crying as opposed to being cut.  That may have been a miss read on my part, but that is what it looked like.

Really worried about this guy, he has taken a couple of tough hits over the past few games.  I am hoping that he is alright, for his own health of course, but also because he has been playing much better.

CJ said he is already headed back to Boston, so he misses at least the LA game.

I don't know what the towel was for, but it appeared to be all white.

Something is very wrong with him.

Savard was cut on the play, there was blood on the towel... but not much. The injury certainly didn't seem to be a serious cut.

    Hope he's okay.

I agree with the threads about keeping campbell on 4th line center. Putting Seguin in the middle of Wheels and Ryder. Now that Savy had another major check could be a ride off for season unfortunately but could use the LTIR for rental ie Rolston,Gravoski, or see if we can get Vermette but get a temp. center to see what the Savard situation future holds; but he could be put on the shelf for the season or career ending be the next Pat Lafontaine etc. It always unfortune to see elite players go down or career jeopardize by original head injuries.

Watching Savard's play since returning... he is so timid. He completely avoids any kind of physical contact. I think it is mental at this point. He's too concerned about getting re-injured (I'm not saying this isn't justified, but you can't be effective on the ice at this level with kind of thinking.)

I disagree.  I see Savard with more body contact than before, almost as if trying to prove to himself and others that he's fine.

    He's not.

Cj does not attempt his stupid stop gaps by promoting a 4th liner to the top line as he did today by putting Camp there. It has worked so well in past with Bitz andnbPJ.

Camp is a great forechecker but he is not a playmaker, sooner see Wheeler there than Camp.

    Personnaly I would go with

    Lucic          Krejci        Horton
    Marchand  Bergeron     Recchi
    Wheeler    Seguin        Ryder
    Paille        Campbell    Thornton

We are going to be seeing more scoring challenges once again.

Will Cj be up for the challenge and be the great coach that we have been hearing about, I hope so.

It is nice to have an Nhl player in the wings such as Pail whether he be a superstar or not, he def is a PK specialist.

    March now leads in SHG.

When was Savard ever a hitter ? or looked to make contact ? Never he goes into corners to poke check then get the puck to a winger for a shot he's never looked to take the body ever.

It's like when a poster complains that Seguin should hit more and be more physical it's just not either players game and just plain dumb to make the comment.

Why don't we just see if the guy is okay first before we start juggling lines. I get the sense people are wishing that he is going to be out without actually saying it. Hopefully I'm wrong. The guy was a top centre, has shown some signs of his former self and is working his way back. The guy needs some time, deserves a break and I think in the long run the team will be better with him come playoff time than without him. Given the inconsistency of all the players on this team (exception Thomas, Chara) on any given night an objective observer would be hard pressed to identify which player was actually playing with post consussion syndrome.

I think Savard is done for a long while. Maybe until Playoffs

    New lineup

    Marchand Bergeron Recchi
    Lucic Krejci Wheeler
    Horton Seguin Ryder
    Thornton Campbell Paille/Caron

They need to call up Caron just in case. Don't combine Lucic and Horton with Krejci. They had success earlier in the year but its better to split them up.  The line doesn't have enough speed and adding Wheeler would better balance it out

Seguin in addition brings much needed speed to Horton and Ryder combination

if Savard is only going to miss a game or 2...I would just inject Paille into his spot between Horton & Ryder. The reason being.... the latest incarnation of the forward lines is great...so although the Paille line would be weak...why disrupt the other 3 lines if Savvy is only gone briefly? Doesn't make sense. If, however the prognosis is that he's out longer term...then yes, the lines would have to be dismantled/re-assembled.

I noticed the crying thing right away also. Even his reaction on the ice was a little off.

I'd like them to give Wheeler a shot at center. He's a big body and it's always nice to have at least one big center on the team even though he isn't a physical player.

I wouldn't shake up every line

    Marchand-Bergy-Recchi
    Ryder-Krejci-Horton
    Lucic-Seguin-Wheeler
    Thorton-Campbell-Caron/Paille

Krejci was great with Horton earlier in the year and maybe he can jump start something on that line.  Wheeler and Lucic have both played well lately and I think Seguin is much more comfortable at center...maybe he'll step up in Savard's absence or at least get some extra ice time.

Re: If Savard Misses Some Games

My prayers go out to Savard that he will be ok and recover from that hit.

Savard had been looking like his vision and creativity was returning, but honestly for the first number of games Savard has hurt the Bruins with his play moreso than helped it.   I believed from the start that as good as Savard once was, if there was a chance to get anything for him back from anyone, he should have been traded.

Savard hasn't been himself since returing, and while he may at sometime get back to being a point a game player, I'd be happy with a 2nd round pick or depth player for him and not take the gamble that he's one hit from being done.

After last night, one can only hope he is able to fully recover.   However even if he can come back, I wouldn't let him on the ice in the playoffs unless he is back long enough to prove he is not the player that he's been for a long stretch this year, but rather the player he has started to turn back into since the start of January.

The fact that they're sending him back is reason enough to be concerned. They're putting him on that plane tomorrow not today. If it was nothing he'd be with the team on its way to LA.
