    10 NHL Summer Predictions,,

    Give me 10 things you think will happen this off season,free-agents, trades etc..Lets bring this back up in October. Here are mine.

    1.  Rick Nash gets dealt on draft day.
    2.  Martin Brodeur announces he'll play 1 more season.
    3.  Jordan Staal gets dealt.
    4.  Carey Price gets an offer sheet and Habs match it.
    5.  Roberto Luongo gets dealt.
    6.  Bruins re-sign Tuuka Rask.
    7.  Devils re-sign Zach Parise
    8.  Edmonton deals the # 1 pick.
    9.  Toronto makes a major trade and free-agent signing.
    10. Either Marleau or Thornton is dealt.


    I purposley left off Tim Thomas, we've beaten that horse to death.

    Kel - All those are pretty reasonable and many of them may actually happen. The Price offer sheet is the long shot here. I say not happening.

    2. Caps trade Ovechkin
    3. Oilers deal the #1 pick
    4. Detroit gets Zach Parise
    5. Tampa Bay moves Lecavalier

    7. Philly tries to get 'tougher' but doesn't address their goalie
    8. Malcolm Subban does not get drafted in the 1st round
    9. Ales Hemsky gets traded
    10. Carl Soderberg shows up to Bruins camp and makes the team.*

    *no, I'm not serious.

    Some others for the board:

    A. Bookboy gets kicked out of Mensa for swearing at all of the Ivy League grads and calling them too small and slow-developing.
    B. NAS disappears from the board to join the crew of the Sea Shepard.
    C. 49-North volunteers to clean up after a Quiet Riot concert and disputes the official attendence numbers.
    D. Badhab is imprisoned for beating a blind waiter with a table.
    E. red75 implodes after Kerry Fraser explains how it is in fact possible to get 32 PIMs for being offsides
    F. Kelvana lifts the curse on the Bruins by changing his avatar.
    D. Dez and SanDog are hired as writers by BDC, then fired for poor taste and vulgarity
    E. Stanley predicts that Yugoslavia will win the Summer Olympics
    F. Bogie reaches the half way point of his esteemed life
    G.  Terry O'Reilly responds to a reporter shouting "who the f#*k is Taz??  The guy from Happy Gilmore?"
    H. The Caps admit that they stink and were an easy opponent for the Bruins regardless of the results.
    I. Fletch publicly pats himself on the back for being right about G and H and accepts apologies from other posters throughout the summer.

    Red Wings sign Suter.
    NHL reaches agreement without too much drama.
    NHL makes rule adjustment regarding goalie gear and/or something to combat collapse.
    Tampa Bay makes a significant trade.
    Nash is traded... and it's a bad trade for both sides.
    Canadiens hire a french coach.
    Marleau is traded.
    Stasny is traded (for Marleau?).
    Bruins trade Thomas and get a big wing.
    Something completely unexpected.

    1,2.3, 6. and 9 are a given.  (4) Price is now a legend in Montreal, he needs a team though, Semin is there kinda player, hehe.  He is a great fighter... hehe. (5) Luongo will get traded, nice market for goalies.  (7) Parise will sign but not with the Devils or the Bs.... Rangers maybe.  (8) Edmonton does not need another young forward, think defense ->>> Suter will be traded and signed, lots of teams waiting... Detriot fans are wishful thinkers for Suter.  Add Washington to Tampa and Toronto as must trade teams.  Buffalo and Ottawa will make more moves as well.  

    Oshie in a Bs uniform would be better than Parise cap wise.  Bs will pick up an aging defenseman, Mark Streit?

    For what it's worth ex - Flame GM Criag Button did a top 10 prospect list for the draft that was shown on TSN yesterday.

    Malcom Subban was ranked 8th.

    (3) SJ will be wearing white skates
    (4) Toronto will finally pluralize leaf properly funny how mngt. always spelt leaves improper for all these years
    (5) Jagr grows a molit sp. ?
    (6) Brad Marchand forms a Punk Rock band
    (7) Shawn Thorton pts. numbers will be higher then pen. numbers LOL right NAS
    (8) Ference buys a muscle car probably Dodge Challenger early seventies
    (9) Hotdogs will out sell beer in all the NHL arenas
    (10) Carrie Underwood will sing the national anthem for opening gm. in Nashville and nine months from this date the hospital maternity wards in Nashville will be over crowded

    1.       The LA Kings will be forced to dismantle part of their Cup winning team, in order to stay within the cap.
    2.       Luongo is traded to Tampa Bay.
    3.    Rick Nash is traded to San Jose.
    4.       Edmonton trades their 1st overall pick to Boston for Dougie Hamilton.
    5.       The Phoenix ownership issue remains unsettled, as the Goldwaters threaten another lawsuit.
    6.       The Flames ‘analysis paralysis’ continues, they stand pat, and miss the playoffs again.
    7.       Ryan Suter re-ups with the Preds.
    8.       Patrick Kane joins AA.
    9.       The league adopts a ‘3 strikes and you’re out’ rule for head-shot suspensions.
    10.   In order to counter the increased size of goalie equipment and the trend towards 6’2” + goalies, the league decides to increase the width and height of the net by 10%.

    1. Bruins win Stanley Cups in odds years of the 2010's (5 in total).
    2. Tyler Seguin wins Art Ross Trophy in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018.
    3. Doug Hamilton makes the squad in 2012 because of cap friendly salary and PC decides it is better he apprentices in the NHL rather than go back to junior and not correct bad habits.
    4. Doug Hamilton leads defensemen in scoring in 2014.
    5. Stanley Cup winning goal in 2015 will be scored by Jared Knight, assisted by Seguin and Hamilton. Cup winning goal in 2013 is still fuzzy at this moment, but I see Nathan Horton in the picture.
    6. The New York Shotblockers miss the playoffs in 2013 thanks to shotblocking injuries to six players throughout the year.
    7. Thomas and Rask notch 15 shutouts in 2012-13.
    8. Bruins will have 8 20-goal scores next season.
    9. Leafs miss playoffs for an eighth straight year.
    10. LA will make the 2013 final and suffer a King-sized sweep to the Bruins, giving up 20 goals and scoring only 4. (7-1, 3-2, 6-1, 4-0).

    1. It's announced that Nathan Horton is out for the 2012-2013 season
    2. Louongo gets traded Tampa Bay
    3. Rask is re-signed
    4. The Coyotes sale falls through, but due to the lack of time for another deal, the NHL is forced to retain ownership for one more season.
    5. Toronto signs Semin
    6. The start of the season is delayed due to slow negotiations with the NHLPA
    7. Krug starts the season in Providence, but ends up with the big club as an injury replacement and sticks.
    8. Johnny Oduya goes back and signs with the Jets.
    9. Kelly signs with Ottawa
    10. Selanne signs with the Jets for one season and finally teaches Blake Wheeler  what the damn blueline is for(Hey, I can dream)

    that's because of what they're named after. They're not named after the plant, they're named after the Maple Leaf Regiment. Since the source of the name is a proper noun, Maple Leafs is actually the grammatically correct plural. Smythe got it right.

    3. Alexander Semin is signed be the Habs after Gomez has been sent to the minors.
    4. R.Suter is signed by the Redwings to replace Lidstrom,who will retire.
    5. Leaky Lu will be traded to the Washington Capitals, as Holtby was a flash in the pan.
    6. Montreal will trade P.K.Subban & a second rounder to the Oilers for the 1st overall pick.
    7. Chris Kelly signs with the Maple Leafs for 4mil per season.
    8. Parise goes to Minnesota to play with Heatley & Setoguchi(loafers).
    9. Phil Kessel who is on a 60 goal pace in January suffers a season ending injury.Phil vows to hit the gym and be back for the playoffs,which the Leafs miss anyway.
