Good coach - too many whiners on that team... ala Burrows, Lapierre , Kesler ...

Where do you think they learn it from?  Plenty of whining behind the bench too (and in the front office).

    Good riddance.

For sure, a team follows its coach, Vigneault is not a bad coach but also one of the biggest whiners and suspension lobbyers in the league. Also one of the poorer goalie managers in the league. How many times did he leave "Leaky" Lou in net for all 6,7,8 goals against. He must have really disliked Luongo.

I would actually like to see the Canucks respectable and I think firing Alain is a step in the right direction.

I vote for Dave Lewis as Canucks head coach.

I can already see Lindy Ruff behind the Nuks bench.

he may be a bigger cry baby than Alain.

Why isn't Gillis getting fired too! The way he handled the whole Scheidner, Luongo debacle was a soap opera that still isn't over! Some the moves he made has done nothing to help the team. Any respectability the team had, came from Burke & Nonis! Gillis is right up there with Feaster as far as "stupidity" goes!

I don't know, how about Torts? He'd be great for the media there and it wouldn't take long before Thelma & Louise were on the 4th line and then shipped out of town, perfect.

His Royal Smugness fired? See you, Elaine.

As long as Gillis is the GM, we won't have to worry about them being a contender. He botched the goalie situation there as bad as one man can.

    BAD move IMO.

Aquillini should have fired Gillis first, then let the new GM shake up the coaching staff however they see fit (Which would have likely lead to the staff all being fired anyway).

    Goalie fiasco=Gillis

    Cap problems=Gillis

    Kassian/Hodgson=Gillis

    Ballard/Booth=Gillis

    No grit=Gillis

    Luongo as Captain=Gillis

$20 mil/2yr contract Sundin=Gillis (luckily Sundin didn't return for second year)

    overpaid defence core=Gillis

Just a few of the mistakes made by this G.M. The Bruins are very fortunate to have one of the best G.M's in the business.

    Hey maybe for the PP.

Actually the Nucks PP wasn't much better then the Bruins PP this year.

And the Nucks had more opportunities to work on it.

From the Vancouver Sun, folks.  Among other things it mentions Gillis failing to make the Canucks better after losing the 2011 Stanley Cup to the burly Boston Bruins.

I never liked Vigneault but I can't help but think of Vernon Fiddler's imitation of Bieksa everytime he is mentioned.

Bingo! In the past I've read GMs sometimes fire coaches to divert the attention from their own failings in their position.  Better the coach's azz than the general manager's.  Could it be the case here?

AV sealed his fate when he went back to an injured Schneider who stunk in game 3 with SJ. Should have left BL in net. He wasn't the problem in the 1st 2 games.

Now MG will have to trade Schnieder unless he finds someone dumb enough to take Lou.
