What good hand did you have? I lost $2500 one nite on a straight flush at a casino in Calgary! Haven't played a serious game of poker since. IF you can't win on a straight flush, someone is trying to tell you you're not supposed to be playing poker. lol

 If you can't win on a straight flush, someone is trying to tell you they stacked the deck.

 

Nope! I lost it fair & square. I went all in & the other guy had the higher cards. Mind you he got it on the river card, so he was the one doing all the gambling! I got mine on the flop.

Nyet. I was 12th out of 40. One good hand and GRINDING the rest of the time. We play at a bar, St Peppers, and this was one of the 2 annual big Tourneys. No money, just buying beer and food to support the bar. They always put the Bruins game on for me so I try to be a good customer.

Jacks up Full house. Everyone folded, so I didn't make much on it. Just one of those days where you just don't get cards, so you have to steal pots where you can, and hope the cards start showing up.

Yea NAS, is NAS, just like Dez is Dez. their both idiot's, but I love em anyway & sometimes I know they deserve to be beaten with a spiked hammer, and I do too, but I'm the first to protect them if someone else jumps them. Shupe's a police officer, so I try not to disrespect him, because I still drive in the Maritimes when I go visit. And he sounds like the type that would ticket his mother. ;-). Stanley is just warped beyond any medication available. Fletch, Sandog, Red, Bookboy, Chowda, Badhab, Kelvana, yourself & some of the other regulars I love reading their stuff even if I don't always agree, but that's what makes it fun sometimes. Some of the others they're just plain wingnuts & they're here just make life miserable for the rest of us. So, in short...I may say something personal, but it's kind of like when your out with your buds & one of them says something that you don't agree with it & you just look at them & say.."You're F'ed!", but you don't really mean it. I do that a lot not just here.

If we got a modern day Kobasew/Kelly/Peverley type for him I would feel it was justified.  I have Koko behind Spooner currently and ahead of Knight on our prospect depth chart.

Surprisingly I think maybe Knight is untouchable.  Mostly because selling low is bad business.  I don't think you can net a third line caliber player, even a rental, so why not play out the hand.

The reason Koko came back to juniors was because the Bruins asked him to. They wanted him to get used to playing on the smaller ice surface again. 

I posted a story about this on this forum ( somewhere, probably the prospects thread ). Just goes to show how many read it. 

And sure I'd trade Koko. Just not for a rental. But for someone who'd be with the Bruins for more then a few months. 

That's what stocking the system is all about. Sometimes a GM has to dip into it to get what he wants from other teams.

I also know his numbers were down in the KHL.  There was concern that he may not be ready to play with grown men yet.  I bring this up because if it is true, it means the choice he made was between Pro and Junior not Russia and NA.  We will find out when he is ready for the show, whether or not it is important to him to play in the best hockey league in the world.

The following has no bearing on the current topic.  If people are ready to discuss this maybe we can start a new thread.  For right now I am under the impresion it is just a silly question.

[Was just thinking, could the NHL and KHL have one playoff series with the Stanley Cup Winner vs there Champion?  Schedules would need to be adjusted.  It would never become one league.  Just a 7 game series to prove who is the best of the best.  Now it is no question who would win, but in 10 years it might be one of the great international sporting events.]

I think talent will always rise to the top.  No doubt the Bruins have been successful to develop players with an eye on size and two-way play, but talent comes first.  If they didn't see Koko and Spooner fitting into the system they wouldn't have drafted them.  

I'm not saying they are destined to stay in Boston, and I favor using prospects to trade for useful pieces sometimes, but if Koko and Spooner continue to develop and excel, I think management will be happy to find a place for them in Boston.  Toughness, size, and two-way play are easier to find than high end skill.  Who knows what'll happen at this point though...?
