ah, Fletch judging if someone is a racist because he dared to ust the term anglo. You arrogance is astounding. I noticed that you didn't mention the fact that I supported Herman Cain for President. I guess that doesn't work for you. What a tool you must be.

Also you said that you "hate the nba", but like the "honest hard-working culture of hockey"

are you saying that the NBA - because it's 90% african american doesn't have an "honest hard-working culture" ???

Talk about code... lmao That could easily be called blatant racism by an a@@ like yourself-

How does it feel brainiac ???
Sorry you feel so threatened by race (and reason).  I like your fighting spirit though.  If you coupled it with a little more sense, and a little less misplaced anger, you'd be more interesting.
And your explanation for your racist comment is ??? C'mon bookworm lets hear it

The last thing I am is threatened. My anger is not misplaced, it is pointed at those like you who think they can judge if a person is "racist' or not. You don't get that. That word is thrown around in our society way too much, and I'm sick of it, and won't apologize for it like the other morons on this post who felt it necessary to beg for forgiveness and say that had "black friends" in order to defend themselves because of personal attacks by the likes of you. Not me - f$#@ that - Your comments could be construed as 1000 times more racist than mine. That is disgusting and wrong on both counts. I'm just the only one here with the ballz to stand up and call it out for what it is. Garbage. You're weak
I apologized because I came across as being in agreement with a racist bigot! I apologize because my morals & value's taught me that in my up bringing-- that's what you do when you wronged another person. Whether it's on purpose due to anger, or by accident. If that makes me a moron then I'll certainly accept being a moron each & everytime. It takes more ballz to admit when they've made a mistake than to fight tooth & nail to always be right & have the last word!
Why the he11 would you apologize for something you are not, except for being pressured by the PC acusers, who are the race baiting scums who would say such a thing about you ? That ain't morals bro - it's a lack of self respect and integrity. Now you just called me a racist and a bigot and yet you know nothing about me, which makes you wrong twice and a spineless weasel who apologizes and begs for forgiveness for something he claims he isn't - you might want to check your "morals and values" and learn to stand up for yourself when being accused of something as vulgar as what you just accused me of - another gross display of weakness. Shame on you
Know what JW? You're right I did call you that & you're right I don't know you from sand. I didn't mean to call you a racist bigot. It came out wrong & I do sincerely apologize, because I was wrong to call you that. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!

    Okay, I googled Anglo Saxon..

Now some people here have to google "oversensitive"...Read his post again, in it's full context, and if your offended by it, then your the problem, not him or his post...
Know what though Kel, regardless of whether someone is over sensitive or not is irrelevent. I think that if you offend someone whether it was intentional or not you should apologize for making an individual's, or a group of people feel bad. Doesn't mean that you're necessarily wrong in what was said. If you type, or say something that gets taken out of context you have to accept some of the responsibility of typing or saying something that could be taken that way. The individual, or group can also apologize for being over sensitive. There's 2 sides to every story & both sides have feelings. Sometimes you just need to swallow that pride & admit that you used bad judgement in something you said. Try to understand from the other person's point of view how they could have taken something wrong.

I think Wensink has been around long enough to given the benefit of the doubt. Good poster, who should have been asked first before being labeled a racist...I didnt even know what Anglo Saxon meant, i had to google it, shows how worldly I am.

Lets get this lockout lifed so we can all go back to doing what we came here for, talking hockey. I want to read Wensinks, Reds and Fletch's thoughts on hockey.

I actually don't think Wensink's comments were a huge deal, it was more the tantrum that was thrown over being asked to explain what it means to prefer anglo saxon types, and then more personal attacks on red who did nothing but explain that it wasn't even the correct term.  I mean, truthfully I think it was a bad form, but I know plenty people who prefer things to within their own cultural norms, and they can own it after they say it instead of attacking everyone.  Who cares though?  I am all but indifferent to Wensink and I won't insult him or try to get him in trouble or whatever.

My comments about prefering hockey ignore race entirely.  Honest and hard working I said.

Honest, because the whole game isn't about drawing fouls and faking injuries (see soccer, basketball).  And people are held accountable, moreso than other sports.

Hard working because there's no standing around in hockey.  Everyone gets hit and everyone gets in the trenches.  No relief pitching specialists, punters, or fat guts on hockey players.

    Capiche?

Season's greetings to Wensink, and everyone else.

Nas, that may be true in some cases, however I am a life long hockey fan, and my 9 year old son told me over the weekend that they are all selfish and he wont watch it ever again.  His hate started when Thomas played his stupid game and stated he would not return while under contract.  My son was hurt, as Thomas was his favorite player. Now, he just decided he doesnt see any appeal to watching anymore and has turned to basketball.....yuck I know, but he loves watching it now.

So maybe you are right in 99% of the cases, but in mine, they lost a young fan, potentially for life.
Definitely agree with you about losing fans.  We only have the NBA and NFL to watch and many will only watch these sports and may become fans of the NBA.  Although, I would guess it will only be temporary.  That is why it really would have been in the best interest of the NHL to have settled this so at least they could have started the season at the beginning of the new year.  This lockout also effects many businesses around the various venues where these games are played, who are losing money every week.

    oh boy..there you go again

I NEVER said I preferred anybody over anyone else -NEVER. You said that- not me. Yet, you continue stating it - why? It sounds like just an effort to validate your vicious attack on me calling me an uneducated racist. Not good buddy.YOU and Red injected race into the equation- not me. I really have a hard time undersatnding how you feel annointed to hand out judgments to someone over a post in a hockey forum? What is that about? I appreciate the season greetings, but honestly just more of the same misinformation, just with a nice red bow on it.

Btw, if you ever played competitive basketball, you would understand that it's all about hard work. Doesn't get much harder, or take more of a comittment physically. It's very much like hockey in that regard. Now, your comments could easily be taken as blatantly racist, but I never thought they were. If you and Red were acting in good conscience I would have been afforded the same fairness. I was not, and that's really about you and not me. And this was never about correcting someone about the true meaning of german barbarians fro the dark ages- more misinformation. This was turned into an ugly personal attack without merit. Thats on you and Red, and has got nothing to do with me. I'd suggest owning it or moving on, half hearted attempts to cya just makes it worse at this point.

Right now if you were to ask me if I'll go to another game I would say probably not.

Then I do some soul searching and think about the guy with nice season tickets and how he let's me have some games at a really good price.

    Then I think...  well... maybe

When the NHL gets back in business - that will be the proof of which fans stay and which go.

And in reality the number of games I attend has been steadily going down over time, I have to dedicate a better part of the day to it, get home very late so work the next day is a problem and the cost, the parking hassle & etc.

So the lockout might hasten the process a little, but my overall tendencies as a consumer will probably be much what it was going to be anyway.

And I'll bet the 9 year old and everyone else pretty much will follow the same pattern, if it wasn't the Thomas thing, it would probably be something else.  So I would say 99.9% of the fans.
