Always good when one of their top players doesn't play...
But if the Caps win on Thursday, look out...
They will have a ton of momentum and confidence going into Game 5...
B's have to crush their will when they are down... -

just noticed where old friend Mike Knuble will fill the roster spot for Backstrom. Mike is known for going to the net, and could provide problems for timmy -

Apparently the Caps are upset that they got away with 2 cross-checks to the face so what's 1 more?

I just stumbled across this video of the Bruins "being dirty" in the series. Brutal but hilarious.

In Response to Re: Backstrom Suspended One Game For Shot To Peverley:In Response to Re: Backstrom Suspended One Game For Shot To Peverley : i agree with your assement of the Backstrom hit, however, it needs to be pointed out that basically, there is no "ruling" . The referee made the call, handed out the suspension. Removing the 1 game suspension is throwing the ref under a bus. No brainer by Shanhan. The only way something like that will ever be overturned, is if the infraction can be shown conclusively, to not have happened. The Lucic thing is a good example. Can't argue the severity of the penalty.

Really?
Walker v Ward (Carolina series) "never happened?" -

I wonder if Shanahan is re-thinking Weber's assault on Zetterberg, worse than half the hits people are getting suspended for now, getting nothing? -

Yes, null, Rome's suspension was the reason for a +18 goal differential in the B's victories. You're correct.
The Washington media/fanbase are possibly just as bad as Vancouver/Montreal. It's only game 3 right now; so don't be surprised to see it heat up.
Their fans at games? They yell a little bit, but when a Boston fan yells, they look at you like you're an a**hole, and when you respond to them, they act like you're rude...
Alan May and the rest of the Washington media are trying to pull the "The Caps haven't been angels, but the Bruins.....", so they think that disclaimer is covering their a**, when they don't point out any instances. They tried to use Bergeron grabbing Backstrom's shield as "going after his head"....Sorry, but if what Bergeron did is going to cause a head injury, there is no way in hell that he should be playing. -

That maroon is so misguided. He wouldn't know a cheap shot if he took one to the face.
The Bruins are "targeting" Backstrom's head? Are you joking? Maybe he should shut his yap and not be agitating and trying to start things with people that will destroy him. Perhaps he should keep his NOSE and therefore his head, out of disagreements, I mean if they are so worried about his head.
Oh and as for TT hitting him in the face? Yea slash someone's hand after the whistle and see what someone thats NOT a goalie will do. -

Huh???? Nobody ever said Walker vs Ward never happened. We're talking about a suspension here Sox...overturning a suspension. Walker never got one. -

So to summarize, through nearly 10 periods of playoff hockey, the Bruins are guilty of:- Pulling a guys helmet off during a scrum (what had happened to Lucic's helmet?).
- Getting beat to the outside and taking a penalty rather than give up the scoring chance.
- Having a goalie get ticked-off at one too many post whistle jabs (though that probably should have been a penalty).
- Holding a guy's visor during a scrum (How much you want to bet Bergeron was saying something along the lines of "You like hiding behind this, don't you tough guy?")
- A face-off shoving match.
- A post-hit shove.
- Bergeron being really, really ticked-off at Perrault. (Anyone know what this was about? Unusual to see Bergeron that angry.)
What a laundry list of attempts to injure other players. -

Anyone who ever accuses Jack and Brick of being homers need to see these guys from Washington. Talk about reaching when you're calling for Bergeron to get a match. -

He actually did Steve. It was automatic for instigating a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game. It was rescinded by Colin Campbell because "it's the playoffs". Of course Walker scored the OT winner in game 7. -

My apologies. You're right Dez. On a side note, the piece I just read said it was rescinded because Campbell ruled it wasn't a sucker punch, and it wasn't instigating, but merely the content of a hockey fight.
Pretty thin, for sure, but it still comes down to debating the infraction vs the suspension. If one can convince the league, the call isn't actually an infraction...the suspension looks after itself.
Thanks for corecting me. -

Dez, very creatative sequence of videos presented by Alan May. I loved the analysis that Peverly was not hit in the head by Backstrom. In that same clip he deliberatly left out the hit from behind on Peverly by Ovie, yet included the stick swing by Peverly at Ovie which he, Alan, allegedly said was the reason Backstrom "high sticked" Peverly. What? OMG the Lucic video clip in the faceoff was a joke, how many times have I seen others do the same in any hockey game. The Washington media is rather selective in choosing video clips! Thanks for the links. -

they should have suspended Backstrom for Three games! Bruins are clearly the better team in skill and toughness. Hope the refs keep game 4 fair, as they usually do.
