    Best Deal to Be Made?

PC stated he would deal Toronto's 1st rd pick if the deal were right.  Based on whats' available, it is my opinion that the B's look at Hemsky.

    Here are the positives;

    1.  Above average playmaker, similar to Saavy, but with a better scoring touch.  Most likely be a star player on any other team but Oilers.
    2.  PP specialist
    3.  Plays Wing
    4.  Has one year left on current contract (not just a rental player)
    5.  His cap hit wouild be minimal (his current contract is not outrageous)

Here are the negatives (can only think of 1):

1 Injury risk (more recently coming off of a concussion and shoulder surgery in the offseason.

If healthy, and with a solid supporting staff, I think this guy could be close to a point per game player.

Personally I would give up Tor's 1st rd pick and Wheeler or Stuart and a prospect (Hamill?) for this guy.  So with that being said, what should PC give up to get this guy, or do you think there is somebody else who is better and available that PC should go after?

That is a drastic freaking overpayment omg. Not even close to dealing the TO 1st for Hemsky.

Re: Best Deal to Be Made?

That's the beauty of the Hemsky option. He's much better upside here than he does in Edmonton, as thin as they are with only Horcoff and Penner there as veterans.

And, he's not going to cost a 1st rd pick.

You could easily package a 2nd rd pick and a current B's player like Wheeler or unfortunately, maybe someone like Mark Stuart, if Edmonton wants a 1st/2nd pairing D Man with room to grow.

I'd prefer to keep Stuart, but they may need to unload him to get a deal done.

Then you go after a Joni Pitkanen type for defense and he, too, won't cost a 1st rd pick.

Chia doesn't need to give up the 1st rounder unless he rattles the cage with huge blockbuster deal.

I prefer the first option which is lower risk, but it's high reward, specifically because Boston is close to making a legit run in the East.  They aren't a team that needs a huge tweak.

Penner will cost more than Hemsky, in my opinion as well.     Edmonton will try to sell Penner as the prime option.

Now, if Edmonton wanted to give Boston both players, then we'd be talking about a #1 pick w/Wheeler back in return.
