It was so nice not to have the Molson Family involved with a team in the NHL... the Canadiens haven't won a Cup since 1993.

Back in the old days, the Molson's practically ran the league: owning the Habs and running Molson's Hockey Night in Canada. The Family used their backroom strength and made sure the Habs won a Cup on a regular basis. (Ask Don Cherry).

Having the Habs win the Cup was great for Molson beer sales, especially in Quebec. Quebeckers drink beer like it is going out of style. A study back in the 80's reported that after Hab Cup wins, Molson beer sales would go up 25% in the following 12 months.

This next generation of the Molson Family is not content to do their dealing the backroom. No sir. They come right out with letters and TV bits.

So watch out NHL teams and Jeremy Jacobs, it will only be a matter of time when the Molson family demand a Stanley Cup and often.
